A week has gone and we haven't even received another player render. Maybe the game has been called off? The accuracy of my ratings must have overwhelmed them big time to the point where they found the state of their game just too difficult to overcome.
Dude you're panicking

No player render this week is confusing

They promised more than the usual and failed to deliver even the usual it's laziness or incompetence on someone's end (the AFL want to promote the sport to international markets yet they can't even promote the video game properly)

It's not confusing at all to me.

This is textbook marketing that has permeated through every Tru Blu game for years.

Just expect the game to be out in 2017 and you won't be disappointed until you actually play the game
It's confusing as they've been quite reliable with the player renders and the release of these images has nothing to do with tru blu

I would put my money on something other then face scans coming out on the week of round 1. I just makes sense really
Starting to think it probably is a game cover + release date. Considering that they need confirmation from the AFL and they have mentioned that they are still working on or just finished making the game so I wouldn't expect a trailer.

If it's not within Q2, then they may as well scrap the release for this year and polish it up for the beginning of next season. There's nothing worse than paying the (since it is Australian-published, higher) full price for a game that comes out past the halfway mark of the season and has a couple months of relevance, with respect to the player lists. Especially since player updates will either be not forthcoming if the game is terrible, or will be charged in the form of DLC or a new game.

It's bad enough, as it is, to pay for annual FIFA or 2K instalments (if that's your thing). But at least these games come out a little bit before the commencement of the associated season, and have adequate mid-season support. Paying full price for a couple months of relevance is hard to justify.

Yeah nah I'd buy the game if it came out grand final day. I just want an AFL game.
I'm keen just as much as anyone, but forcing things to happen will only exacerbate the cyclical narrative that surrounds AFL game. If they release a half-baked and late product, then people will be burned and won't buy later iterations, which means less demand for an AFL game, which either means no further games or less financial backing for another, which means worse quality, thus they release a half-baked and late product.......you get the idea.

They need to do it right, or not do it at all. There are plenty of people like you or I that will purchase this day 1 because it's an AFL game. But we're not the people that 'matter', since we'll buy it no matter what. It's the people who are apprehensive due to past failures, or unsure due to doubting the quality - these people need to be swayed and convinced to purchase these games. Without them and their money, there'll never be a quality AFL game.

Releasing it next year would just put us through another 5-6 months of waiting for "approvals". Read a post somewhere on facey from AFL evolution about the approvals process having started back in November, and the AFL keep mucking around because of sponsorship changes etc. Same thing would probs happen next year too

If they delay it past Q2 then clearly they aren't rushing out an unifinished game but delaying the release until the 2018 season makes no sense as they would still have a large release window still within the AFL season in Q3

As long as the game releases within the season it will sell well (the old ps2 games show that people will come back year after year even if the product is well below par)

As far as I'm concerned they could release it in December and I'd still play the crap out of it

I don't care if they release it late in the year, as long as they're prepared to offer cheap or free roster updates for 2018.
They might just leave it to the fanhub for people to make the updates

Although I'd expect a 2018 DLC update with new rosters, guernseys and Perth Stadium (and I'd happily pay a reasonable price for that if that's what was included)

Seeing as there isn't any AFL games on this gen either, im pretty sure most people would buy it and play the crap out of it, regardless of whether it's released in September-December or so :)

At least If it gets released in 2018 we can start the player ratings thread from scratch.

That'd be fun.
I was just about to say this but you beat me to it. However, I still think the reason the AFL are taking longer to give WW the go ahead is because they are still adding my ratings in there and tweaking all the players attributes to get the ratings spot on.

Is there any confirmation of a Fanhub? It would be the most convenient way for both fans and Wicked Witch. I love it on Rugby League live 3, playing as the best teams of the modern era. Would be unreal to play with Geelong 2009, Brisbane 2001 and Hawks 2013. I'd also make a career with Saints 2009 and finally win us a flag...

They said the below in their original postings in mid january:

"Classic teams with past players are not allowed from the AFL or the players association, however that’s why we have created the online fanhub, because when they are made as user generated content, then that is the only way we can get them in the game. Creating jumpers on the fanhub is a good idea, we have been looking into this and the complex issues it causes"

Perfect. Now let's just pray the gameplay is sound. At least a building block as AFL 1 was, don't expect them to make a perfect game first up, especially after Live 2 but something playable with no bugs.
