It took ronaldo years to become 94 rating in fifa but we give Dangerfeild 94 from one great season understandable but 93 would be a stronger argument
Danger was very good with the Crows leading up to this season.

proper thread for the ratings, since i go for the tigers i reckon their playing rating should be:

1 Nick Vlastuin 80

I hope they make if you have a higher speed stat then the player chasing you, you won't get run down.

Also contested ball winning needs to be overhauled otherwise slow contested ball winners will struggle. In live one Pendlebury barely gets a touch despite a 90+ rating.

90+ players:
Patrick Dangerfield
Nathan Fyfe
Luke Parker
Gary Ablett
Josh P Kennedy
Lance Franklin
Scott Pendlebury
Josh J Kennedy
Sam Mitchell
Todd Goldstein
Alex Rance
Marcus Bontempelli
Cyril Rioli
Eddie Betts
Joel Selwood
Nic Naitanui
Robbie Gray
Dustin Martin
Heath Shaw
Max Gawn
Shaun Burgoyne
Jeremy McGovern
Chad Wingard
Tom J Lynch
Tom Mcdonald
Dane Rampe
lol wtf way too many 90 + rankings, 90 is elite, Top of the tree A grade of A graders, thats not some of these players, wingard and rampe 90 lollllll

95+ should be for the top 3.

Wingard is a 2 time AA at the age of 23, he's elite.

I'm thinking with the fan hub and the ability to make historic teams, that players over 95 will be the absolute legends of the game.

I would say the best player in the league right now would be about a 94.

I don't think that makes him elite. He hasn't even averaged over 20 touches a game since 2013 and All-Australian selection usually shows who had an excellent year on an average team. Chris Judd was a Premiership player, Brownlow Medalist, Leigh Matthews MVP, 2-time All-Australian and club captain by the age of 23. HE is elite, not Wingard. 2006 Judd in any AFL game SHOULD be rated 97+

Madden is very position specific tho and ratings change dramatically. So if a kicker plays as good as is physically possible for a kicker why shouldn't he go up to 99 but then drop if his performance changes. Would love to here GOTHELIONS take
I think you can't base ratings on immediate performance or even season performance but more similar to the Champion data AFL Player Ratings where your most recent season ways heavier then others. Also i agree that just becuase a player is All-Australian doesn't mean they are rated in the high 80s/ 90s. It all depends on the position a player is selected for and what the talent pool is like for that position. You will see what i mean when i release my ratings but for example i have only rated Toby Greene an 85/86 despite having AA status.

Secondly, how do you possibly know what is physically possible to determine that a players certain attribute is worthy of a 99 rating? This rating cannot ever be handed out as we can't see into the future of a future players ability that could exceed what we thought was possible in AFL. I mean look at the Olympics. So my answer would be that no player should ever be rated maximum for an attribute. Also i think that a players rating should never change significantly, only gradually. For example, if Gary Ablett starts his 2017 season with disposal counts of 9, 16 and 11 hypothetically that doesn't mean his rating should drop from a 92 down to 75. It should drop from 92 to around the 91/90 mark.

In my ratings, the highest rated player is Dangerfield on 94. Dangerfield has built up his form over a number of seasons. Remember its not really fair to compare it to fifa ratings such as ronaldo whose form has been good for 7 years before being rated so highly. In AFL, players peak form is ussually only for a few seasons so its not really comparable.

As i said yesterday, i won't move on to Carlton until input is received for Brisbane and/or Adelaide.

Is Christensen worthy of an 80? What about Beams being rated so highly despite coming off a year of injury?

He's a forward he doesn't have to and I never said he's 97+.

Chris Judd is an absolute superstar most players are worse in comparison, doesn't mean they're not elite.

I'd argue the players of today are better than the players of yesteryear.

But i do have to sorta agree when you realise that patrick broke the record for most brownlow votes in one season so the more i think about it low 94 would be understandable

Beams should be 84-85, elite at his best but has barely played for 18 months.
Rockliff I'd have 85, was pretty inconsistent
Sam Docherty- 85

Jacob Weitering- 80
Docherty should be 87 if we use 86+ is all-australian/best 4 or 5 in position
Weitering had a great year but not sure about an 80

Schache is a 96

but not 90 rated, but i guess its how you look at it and how you value it. To me 90 rated is the top echelon, legit A grade of A graders, reserved for players like gaz, danger , selwood etc. is wingard part of that elite of elites? no. therefore he is not 90. for me he'd be about 84-86. which is already very good. Look at fifa, guys like aubameyang, matiudi, cavani are world class or close to it and are 85-86, which is fair, you dont want every player to have 90+

Discussion on what a 90 is is absolutely meaningless until we know what 90+ means.

FIFA has 10 players rated 90+ despite what, 15000 players?

Madden has 76 players rated 90+ despite only 1700 players.

Both systems work. Who deserves to be a 90 will depend on how it's rated. Is the best player in the game ~94 or a 99?

We have already gone with fifa

Madden only works because the whole roster is updated weekly with comprehensive changes, cant have a bloke in AFL a 98 for a whole year when his form has dipped to 88. Stars also have a much bigger impact in american football

I don't think 90+ ratings should be handed out for nothing.

The only 90+ players should be Buddy (92) Danger (94) and Fyfe (92) and leave the 95+ as unreachable areas left for potential legends (Matthews Lockett etc) in later iterations.
Yeah, kinda what I was thinking, except I would probably have a few more in the low 90s.
