Just having a look at Live 2 iOS versions ratings (note this is heading into 2015 season) 90+ are-

Other notables (more or less stuff I found weird, although some may be accurate at the time)

Yeah, kinda what I was thinking, except I would probably have a few more in the low 90s.

I think Fifa gets it right with Messi at 93 and Ronaldo at 94 as they're far and away the best players in Soccer

Zlatan is 90 though so you could add a Hodge there

Just my opinion, but I'd like to see a player's "overall" rating be soley dependant on his individual stats for specific skills.

So something along the lines of having each player rated 1-100 in the following categories (using Cyril Rioli as an example here);

Disposal efficiency - 89
Decision making - 87
Kicking distance - 79
Opposite foot/hand efficiency - 75
Tackling - 96
Contested marking - 79
Uncontested marking - 90
Play reading ability - 89
Spoiling - 72
Set shot accuracy - 81
Snap shot accuracy - 88
On the run shot accuracy - 83
Dribble kick accuracy - 87
Speed - 95
Endurance - 79
Agility - 91
Power - 73
Leadership - 78
Discipline - 75
Crumbing ability - 90
Ruck work - 55

The average of these numbers together = 83 Overall rating for Cyril. Probably a bit low but you get the point.

Yeah, that's how the overall would be determined, but no one here has time to do all that.

Point being, coming up with a player's overall rating before coming up with their skill set ratings is probably going to lead to the majority of players not being rated remotely accurately in this thread, sooo, what's the point? I guess it is the off-season...

GOTHELIONS16 I personally like your dedications to the player ratings! Keep them coming! Being a bit biased as a Pies fan, but Grundy/Sidebottom/Varcoe should all be above Wells. Grundy should be above Merrett too in my opinion. Treloar should be 89-90 also in my opinion.

I've been a fan of Grundy since his debut, and I don't particularly like any Essendon players, so that includes Merrett... but no, just no.

Wells is much better than you think. And as previously stated, 89-90 is borderline top 10

I rate Wells actually, unfortunately for him he just cant play a full season anymore. I dont agree 90 being a 'Top 10' either. Plenty of above posts show 15-20 players mentioned that should be above 90. Top 10 specifically COULD be players 92-99 overall, with Dangerfield being 96 as the top player. Again, my opinion.

No one in the current AFL is worthy of over a 94 imo. Historic teams will be where the 95-99s are.

You don't think Dangerfield deserves that rating? He did break the Brownlow voting record. I also don't envision this game having any classic teams, at least not for the first iteration. I think to license all the retired players would cost them too much money, 2K Sports have the same issue trying to secure NBA legends year in and year out.

There is a fan hub, meaning other users will create the historic teams.

While I do rate Danger very highly, I don't think he is worthy of anything over a 94 just yet.

I'm hoping they will cap rating overalls based on position. Naturally midfielders/ruckman/key positions should have higher overalls than most. Other than say Eddie Betts, most Forward Pockets (or even Back Pockets) should be rated higher than 85-87.

If the last games ratings are anything to go off, the highest rated player was a 95 (Gary Ablett).

Zac Merrett should be around 88, Fantasia way too low should be closer to 82. Parish, Laverde, Langford and Francis should be higher than McGrath. All the rest are pretty fair. Also no Tippungwuti or McKenna. Tippa should be around 78-80 and McKenna 70-74.
