I was doodling a version of the Brisbane logo that was more inspired by the Fitzroy lion but still distinct from it and decided to go through the rest of the league for funsies. Some of these are based on previous stuff I've done, all are on shields because I started that way and just carried on with it. All drawn in Adobe Fresco, which is great for drawing but lacks a few features from other Adobe products that would be nice to have (i.e. layer stroke).
Anyway:

Adelaide Shield s.webp
Straight-forward one to start off with, not my most creative. Probably should have had the space between the back wing and the body for the red and yellow part too.

Lion logo shield s.webp
As I said above, tried for something inspired-by-but-distinct-from the Fitzroy lion. Not entirely pleased with the face if I'm honest with myself and will probably give this another shot at some point. I do like the pose though as something a bit more dynamic than the Fitzroy lion.

Carlton Shield s.webp
The last one I did and the hardest to come up with anything original. Carlton's identity revolves around the monogram and you can't really extrapolate from 'Blues'.

Magpie logo s.webp
A simplified version of another drawing I did. The contour hatching helps give it a bit of a vintage feel.

Bombers Shield s.webp Simple enough idea - the contrails of the bomber forming the red sash (and a plane that goes up, consequently).

Freo Shield s.webp Another one I struggled with. 1. Colour scheme is terrible but also tradition so felt obliged to keep it. 2. Anchor?! Considered a hand holding an anchor aloft but couldn't get it to work (maybe one day). I've also previously done a wharfie carrying an anchor on their shoulder but it was a bit busy for this.

Giants Shield s.webp Another one I struggled with. Giant is a hard concept to convey without a point of comparison... Settled for a muscular man looking down at the viewer. This was actually my second attempt at it and I'm still not entirely happy. Thought about giving him a helmet but it was more viking than giant.

Geelong Shield s.webp In retrospect there was a better way to get a better stroke effect here. Inspired by the many weird-looking cats Geelong have had as logos over the years, I tried to keep the hand-drawn vibe.

Gold Coast s.webp The club with the weakest identity in the league (the new logo is a step up but it still looks more like a sunscreen company than a football club), I freely admit I gave up with this one. I've previously done one that was red surfboard shape with concentric blue and yellow circles to look like water ripples, reused that idea here.

Hawks Shield s.webp Something modern for the Hawks. Like Collingwood, this was modelled on a previous drawing in a different style. Probably the cleanest one in this set and thus the one that looks most like I just used ChatGPT.

Melbourne Shield s.webp Tried it with and without a face, still not certain I made the right call.

North Shield s.webp More of the typical modern animal-head sports logo, but showing that shinboner determination (or a bad case of constipation).

Port Shield s.webp This is where I would have liked a stroke option. White stroke, black background. This was my fourth attempt, originally tried something like the prison bars but with lightning bolts, then decided to try and combine the thunderbolts with a magpie that was so stylised Eddie couldn't complain. Still don't think it's 100% there but I still like the idea.

Tigers Shield s.webp Tried for the retro look with this one, bit meh on it tbh.

Saint Shield s.webp Another repurposed design. I thought my inspiration was the style of the Footy Show logo but when I looked it up afterwards it was not what I remembered it looking like so if anyone can remember something this reminds them of, please let me know. Incorporated the WW2 yellow in the halo.

Swan Shield s.webp
Originally did this as in the style of a graffiti stencil before cleaning it up. The red V added late in the process to help balance it out.

Eagles Shield s.webp An attempt to find a middle point between the stylised original logo and the more realistic modern one.

Dogs Shield s.webp
I've never been able to draw a snarling bulldog so this was even more of an exercise than the rest. Don't think I quite nailed it. The pose is one I've been kicking around for a while for the Dogs. Probably should have done something more stylised.
