Anyone had a go yet? I entered a team for the Rich v Freo game. Really good setup imo. I thought it would be good to have a thread to talk about how peoples teams are doing.

Love how the ranking for your team continuously updates so you can see how close you are to the money.

My team was as high as 14th towards the end of the second quarter before dropping away in the second half. Finished up ranked 58th. The team that won had Jackson, Rance (144 wtf?) and Captain Cotchin.

Captain Cotchin helped me but Duffield and Conca let me down.

Looking forward to having a crack at the overall round teams as well.

Just entered my team for this weekend.
When is it going to be for money, also how many people were you against last week?

They have put up $1k prize money for each single game they have had it on and $2k for this weeks round game. I don't think it's been top 20% whilst it's free. Only the top 11-13 or so have been receiving prize money.

I would say this week will be the last weekend of it being free.

267 teams were entered for the West Coast v Sydney game.
265 for the Richmond v Freo game.
246 for the Saints v Port game.

Numbers aren't bad but I'm assuming they are running another free weekend to try and boost them even higher. Hopefully this picks up a lot of interest as I have found it very good so far.

How did you go getting your team under that salary cap? I found it quite difficult (which is good). The lack of quality rookies this round makes it even harder. Have put in two different teams with two different strategies so hopefully at least one of them does well.

The only bad thing I have found is that they haven't got all of their player positions right. Grundy and a few other rucks are in the midfielders section for some reason. I'm sure it will be fixed up soon though.

Tough to get it under the cap....certainly struggled.
Hope nobody finds out about it until its for money. The less the better in the free rounds ;-)
Have only entered one team but hopefully its good enough to do alright.
THe live ranking excites me a little bit...

Oh no, why did you show me this!? Now I'm going to have to get involved...

Looks fun, will probably try it out for a round or two (then lose all my money and quit).

Best part about it! Is really entertaining watching your team move up and down the rankings every few seconds.

The low salary cap is really good. Makes people pay attention to players that usually aren't DT relevant.

Interesting concept. The lack of bubble rookies makes it much harder to create a strong team, very much have to select speculators and hope. Would be interested to see others teams, here is mine:

Def: God, Gibbs, Ellis, Vlastuin, Stratton, Tambling (89k)
Mid: Ablett, Swan, Griffen, Sidey, Bastinac, Murphy, B. Jack, Carter (89k)
Ruc: McEvoy, Vardy (89k)
Fwd: SJ, Harvey, Rioli, Darling, Lamb, Daniher. (89k)

This game is all about value. My forward line shall be interesting.

I have entered 3 teams for the round. Fairly similar teams.

Basically just played around with a few minor structure changes and switched in and out some of the riskier picks. With the lack of rookies available I think the 300k players are going to be the key to winning it this week.

I avoided Ablett in all the teams and also Swan in 2 of them. It's a lot of money to pay for them considering Ablett is going to have a lot of work put into him and Swan kicked 5 goals and 37 disposals against GWS last time they met so I think they are going to tag him. Not expecting them to be kept quiet but I don't think they will go huge which you would want for that price.

Confident of SJ having a big one so went with him. Masten is in all of the teams because his record against the Bulldogs and his current form. More confident in him than a lot of other premiums this week. Barlow is just consistent.

2 of my teams are 58th and one is 73rd. Daniher in all of them lol

Looking around at some of the top teams though and they are relatively weak teams. They have spread money all over rather than going with rookies and good DT players. I think a lot of those will drop off.

A lot of teams would have gone with Daniher because he was the only rookie forward playing I believe.

Yeah you'd say so, I had the feeling a lot of the teams would be constructed that way. Depends who knows about the game, I'd say a majority of the teams would've been made by little experienced DTer's (as main advertisement for the game is DTT, nothing against those guys though) so teams will be lacking in quality.

As for Daniher, I would've thought so too. However I saw that 'popular' starring system in the match centre page and it seems that Daniher wasn't popular at all.. dunno how accurate that is however, as a guy like Bastinac which I chose purposely as a unique choice is also starred.

Hmm interesting on Daniher. I'm just hoping the money saved by selecting him makes up for it. A lot of 200-300k players selected by some of these teams that are just as likely to pump out a 30-40 point game and without selecting rookies I find it hard to see how people squeezed in premiums.

Not a fan of the Geelong v Saints game as the match day. Basically have no choice but to spend money in the back line when I really don't want to lol

My Geel v STk going fairly well, apart from captain SJ. Steven (80), Motlop (73) and Vardy (61) to halftime. If SJ can pick his scoring up my team could do alright.

So you were in the money yeah?
My team in the Sydney v Richmond game was at one point 9th but now im down to 60th!
Umm yeah I won around $30-40 I'm fairly sure.. topped it off with a 30th in the overall round for $18 more haha, it's not much but it makes you happy. Done despite Daniher (14), Tambling (27) and B. Jack (44).

Yeah I didn't even bother checking my syd v rich one :p how'd you finish up?

My Richmond v Sydney team got up to 6th and held it for ages. Then O'Keefe had a quiet second half as my C and I dropped way down. Finished 30 something I think.

Round teams went shocking. Highest team ended up 121st I think. Masten, Tambling, Daniher etc all popular choices by my teams and none of them scored over 30.

Still, I'm looking forward to next round. I think I prefer the individual games the most.

Same thing happened to me Re: O'Keefe. Was top 10 at one point and dropped to about 50th by the end.
Swapped Maric in for Mumford last minute - rookie mistake

Do we think that next week will be the last of the freeness?

Possibly. I didn't think this weekend would be free. I would think that next week would be paid because there isn't that many rounds left.

I'm just hoping this runs through the finals and they do almost all the games.

Yeah its really good, do you reckon most people are only in because its free?

I would say we will see a pretty big drop off. A lot of people will still play but only enter 1 or 2 teams rather than 3 or 4. It's only 10 bucks per play but that will start to add up pretty quickly if you go on a bad run.

Good news is that it's top 20% once it goes to paid rather than the top 15 or so that it is now.

It's going to come down to a lot of luck though. I watch more footy than most and do a heap of study for my DT betting so I would like to think I know a fair bit about it but I still struggled this week and some of the teams up near the top had some average DT players score very well. A lot of trial and error though I guess.

Most 250-400k players are that price for a reason. They are really hit and miss and I think those players are going to be the key. That and avoiding rookies that get the vest..

Yeah avoiding the vest is a big thing.
I think there will be a drop off (lots of people not wanting to pay for as many teams) but also the interest wouldve gone up week by week as more people tell others about it.
