Why is Collingwood in black shorts today and Geelong white last night, so inconsistent as navy shorts would have been more than fine last night.

Still trying to work out how pink and maroon was approved last week with no white shorts.

Geelong should be allowed to use Navy shorts more than they do now.

Grand Final kits are fairly straightforward now.

Geelong (home/white) v Collingwood (home/black) or Brisbane (home/maroon)
Except if Pies v Lions can both wear coloured shorts, no reason both Cats & Lions can't wear coloured shorts - would be better contrast that today's game (which is OK)

GC didn’t have white shorts made up for the season, and being a Brisbane home game, they were either not asked to wear white shorts, or declined to.

This is another ugly matchup imo.

The lions in the bears guernsey with maroon shorts or the Fitzroy guernsey with blue shorts (if they had them) would be a million times better.

Why are so many teams scared to wear their clash jumpers ?

Brisbane are hardly scared to wear their clash jumper. They probably would've worn their Fitzroy kit tonight, but I'm assuming the AFL directed them to wear all Maroon.

This is what the 2023 GF should've been.

AFL should mandate every team makes white shorts as well as a set in every official club colour. They can then select the best contrast for each game.
Of course. I believe GC are lucky they fall under the niche ‘never wear white shorts because they’re a red team’ rule like Sydney.

And yet their away / clash jumper is gold with blue shorts, and their pink kit is pink with black / charcoal shorts.

Any explanation yet as to why the 2023 Grand Final needed to look different to the 2025 preliminary final?

Saturday evening proved that 2023 was a mistake.
There wasn't a clash in either 23 or on the weekend, but would be interested to know

  • Why Brisbane opted to wear maroon, when they wore red away 2 weeks ago at the MCG, and wore red in the prelim last year
  • Why the AFL let them wear maroon shorts when that hasn't been done for god knows how many years
  • And if this was a complete anomaly or we get something strange like this in the GF

Was it actually Brisbane's choice, though? I thought the AFL exercised more direction when it came to kits in finals

I'd assume it was Brisbane's decision as the Fitzroy kit arguably offers more contrast, and they wore that jumper in the prelim last year against a team with a similar amount of white and navy/black so can't see how the AFL would intervene

Would be interesting to find out
