This is disgraceful.

The AFL made their position clear. Victorian teams can elect to play their home final at either Metricon, Adelaide Oval or The GABBA. The Eagles won the right to host a home final, they get to choose. Yet the Saints have been forced to play theirs at Adelaide Oval.

Brett Ratten confirmed on AFL360 tonight - The Saints nominated the GABBA. Staying in the one state, most likely the one ground would give them the opportunity to build consistency and familiarity on a surface the Grand Final will be hosted on.

This inconsistency will be met with supporters of other clubs venting their prior frustrations about their own club, but how would you ever expect the AFL to genuinely change, focus on integrity when the narrative is always deflected and the current issue isn't brushed aside by opposition supporters cause its not their club?

I genuinely feel for St Kilda and their supporters. The AFL released a statement confirming Victorian teams could choose and they've backflipped.

This is bullshit it punishes the winner of the game in the 2nd week of finals as they now have added unnecessary travel. And to make matters even worse their opponent (Brisbane or Richmond) has no travel.

And why is it happening anyway? There is already a game at Adelaide Oval anyway. Surely if you were going to force a venue it would be Metricon as it's not being used.

They never said a team's preference would be the sole determining factor.
The following parameters shall apply in regard to all relevant circumstances including (but not limited to) the following:
- The relative ranking of the two Clubs involved in a 2020 Finals Series Match based on ladder position at end of Home & Away Matches and, for Preliminary Finals, the winners of Week One Finals Series Matches;
- The respective venue preference(s) of the Clubs (if any);
- The requirements of any State or Territory Government for a Club or Clubs to quarantine prior to or after a match that might be scheduled in that State or Territory;
- The forecast attendance for the Match with a view to maximising attendance;
- The availability of potential venues.

Well if maximising attendance is the only criteria being used (which it must be as none of the other criteria would place the game in Adelaide) surely St Kilda vs Bulldogs should be played in Perth.

Lets look at the other criteria.

- Ranking - 6 v 7 both Victorian sides currently based in Queensland - Play the game in Queensland
- Preference - Obviously St Kilda would rather forgo additional travel and play at the Gabba or Metricon - Play the ******* Game in Queensland
- State Gov Requirements - both clubs already in Queensland hub - Play the bloody ******* game in Queensland
- Availability - Gabba only has one match same as Adelaide Oval and Metricon is free. - Play the bloody ******* game in Queensland you ******* numpties.

AKA the AFL will do whatever it wants to do and people should shut the hell up and hand over their money.

Will there really be thousands more at Adelaide Oval over Metricon?

Will Crows supporters be lining up for tickets because they refuse to support Port?

Good West Coast can play at Metricon then.
Ironic you mentioned west coast. They were denied home finals in 1996 and 1999. ep2018 would know this.

Crows were also denied a home semi final in 2002.

Brisbane was denied a home final in 2004

The AFL constantly contradict themselves.

Grand Final must be played at the MCG because it gives the most number of people the opportunity to attend.

MCG unavailable.

AFL says the Grand Final must be at ANZ Stadium because it's the next highest capacity stadium despite not being used for four years, not being configured for AFL, and generally hated by all the play on and attend.

Virus outbreak in NSW, so AFL teams evacuated from NSW.

Logic would suggest that Optus Stadium would now be in the running being the next highest capacity stadium and most state of the art in the county.

But think again.

Suddenly the frontrunner to host the GF is the lowest capacity and overall worst major stadium in the country the Gabba.

As a supposed reward for QLD hotels allowing them to spend $4 million per week on hotel rooms that would otherwise be unoccupied lol.

They're completely unaccountable.
