Analysis AFL Forcing 6th Placed Saints to Play Their Home Final at Adelaide Oval

Saints should embrace this, they beat top of the ladder Port there. Happy memories.

Cooler conditions as well which mitigates the travel a bit.

This is bullshit it punishes the winner of the game in the 2nd week of finals as they now have added unnecessary travel. And to make matters even worse their opponent (Brisbane or Richmond) has no travel.

And why is it happening anyway? There is already a game at Adelaide Oval anyway. Surely if you were going to force a venue it would be Metricon as it's not being used.
Not really when you consider that those 2 teams you mentioned finished 2nd and 3rd as Opposed to 6th and 7th .

If there is a slight advantage drawn from this move to Adelaide i think it is fine , plus the Saints play it well and have a bit of support down here .

I don’t disagree. Seems the pitch WA put together wasn’t to the AFLs liking. Shame.
unfortunately with the eagles in the mix it was never going to happen.

if us and the purples were plodding this year i have zero doubt it would be in wa as they would make a motza from crowds attending as opposed to the empty stadia in qld.

All hypothetical Kranky.

There are a multitude of reasons why it should have been in WA. As we know, the AFL are heavily financially driven. We also know that the WA premier didn’t want to contribute a cent to bid for the finals. So perhaps that’s why it turned out like it did.

But thats a topic for another thread eh?

Saints should have been allowed to play in Qld. Imagine the outcry if this was the Eagles or Port in that position.

Optus and AO are free and available..Port or the Eagles playing their earned finals anywhere else would equal a Massive shaft
Vic teams cant play home finals because of covid...the difference between the saints playing at metricon/gabba/AO is subjective at best

the two are not even remotely comparable

they could have played the whole season in wa and made money from crowds the whole way.

on the saints thing - its disgusting - their final they should be able to play it on tattoine with a hutt in the crowd to represent clive palmer if they want.

Why do you have this idea there is a specific anti WA teams agenda? But not SA, QLD or NSW teams.

could just as easily been an sa gf but port are up there too.

the afl and its victorian apologists that always tell us its about money - in the season where money is more important than ever before - held the season in the state that out of the three realistic choices - would make them the least money.

the same afl that for years has skewed the comp by giving vic teams double ups against collingwood - because it makes bulk cash - all of a sudden are worried about the integrity of the comp when north want to play a home game in perth - a city where they have a lot of support and in a cash strapped season they would get a windfall.

they arent even pretending anymore - its all about the big vic clubs 1st and second and their expansion clubs 3,4 and 5th

Notice the use of the word unnecessary.

Why put two teams on the same plane for 6 hours to play each other when they could play at one of the stadiums sitting in the state they are already in.

that's fine..it's 100% logical to have the final in Qld

i was just responding to the comment that its the same as Port or the Eagles being shafted a home final

its not
