Good result for once. maybe Gil being a Saints fan is actually getting us a fairer hearing than the last one hundred and twenty odd years? and i understand totally why west coast fans are using this to highlight past injustice - been reamed by the afl a lot and most vics don't seem to give a hoot. it's a comp rigged towards the big vic clubs and it's time it changed.

Love the AFL trying to make out that Adelaide Oval was St Kilda's 2nd preference as a way of sharing the blame around. Calling Bullshit on that one!

Again, why? Why would St. Kilda want to play their home final at the Bulldogs home ground? Refusal to answer confirms I'm right, they did choose AO as their second option.

The AFL constantly contradict themselves.

Grand Final must be played at the MCG because it gives the most number of people the opportunity to attend.

MCG unavailable.

AFL says the Grand Final must be at ANZ Stadium because it's the next highest capacity stadium despite not being used for four years, not being configured for AFL, and generally hated by all the play on and attend.

Virus outbreak in NSW, so AFL teams evacuated from NSW.

Logic would suggest that Optus Stadium would now be in the running being the next highest capacity stadium and most state of the art in the county.

But think again.

Suddenly the frontrunner to host the GF is the lowest capacity and overall worst major stadium in the country the Gabba.

As a supposed reward for QLD hotels allowing them to spend $4 million per week on hotel rooms that would otherwise be unoccupied lol.

They're completely unaccountable.
"As a supposed reward for QLD hotels allowing them to spend $4 million per week on hotel rooms that would otherwise be unoccupied lol" ---- This last one hit the nail on the head!!!

Nah but if they're good enough they should be able to win anywhere. So don't complain.

That's what Victorians used to tell non-Victorians. Sounds ridiculous, doesn't it?

We will play all finals in Melbourne.

That's what WCE and their owners signed a contract for when they begged to join the VFL.

I thought we accepted that teams can earn home finals?

Or is fairness simply a tap that you turn on and off when it suits?

What, so views can change?

If you think that, why were you bringing up outdated views?

This makes no sense.

We changed the rules based on principles of fairness but then decided to pick and choose when to apply them.

If you think that, why were you bringing up outdated views?
To remind everyone of the ridiculous excuses Victorians used to make for picking and choosing when to apply the principles of fairness.

Oh no, fairness is important sometimes. At other times it doesn't matter at all. Based on when we decide.

The only one picking and choosing here is you.

fu** off with that sh*t!
No, you think you can just ignore my point which invalidates your entire post and just sit around pretending your right? Absolutely not.

And as I suspected, couldn't come up with an actual response. Still waiting for the reason St Kilda would of wanted to have their home game at their opponents ground.

No I was giving your ultimatum all the respect it was due. It is a lazy and pathetic debating tactic.

But if you must have a response to shut you up, clearly the 6 hours of extra flying alone would be reason enough to prefer play at the Bulldogs "home" ground no matter the miniscule advantage it might given them.

And what do you know, Richmond choosing to host their final at Metricon, proving what was blindingly obvious to me and apparently nobody else, St Kilda did not want to play the Western Bulldogs at Metricon, the Dogs home ground this season, and preferenced Adelaide Oval second not third.

well if the saints had their way, they would of had someone like one of their wealthier saints fans spare 50-100 million dollars to upgrade Moorabbin oval to a 25-30,000 seat stadium for AFL games.

Absolutely !!

30,000 at Moorabin vs 18,000 at Marvel against clubs like Freo is no comparison.

The Saints are one of the clubs that are disadvantaged by both the draw and the finals system.

Their home ground is Docklands, yet if they finish top and face Richmond,Collingwood,Hawthorn or Melbourne they play away at the MCG against a team who are playing at home.

It is a deeply biased structure favouring 1st the 4 MCG based clubs who play finals at home against dockland teams, and a GF at home against interstate teams.

So, there are 3 levels of opportunity to win a flag,

1st MCG based teams

2nd Interstate and Geelong teams

3rd Docklands teams.

If every team was of equal ability the 4 MCG teams would win the bulk of the flags because of their ground advantage.

Anzac day is at Collingwoods MCG home ground, never at Essendons home ground Docklands.

It needs to change in order to be an equal competition shared by all fans and all clubs.

If the Saints finish top the GF should be at Docklands.......

Equality is integrity without it there is no real competition.

Essendon and Carlton also play home games at the MCG, so do Geelong albeit definitely not as much. Playing ANZAC day at Docklands would be a farce IMO or playing the GF at Marvel when you can fit in 50k more people a few kilometres away
