Didn't even notice the date, that's what you get when you don't read the articles and just rip them off other forums.

I guess the info in that article is as much as we have been given since it was written!

This has been recently added to the BigAnt home page (www.bigant.com):

AFL!
Expect news on the upcoming Australian Football League game for the Xbox360, Playstation3, and PC here soon!

Not really news as such but hopefully it signals that we will hear something more in the next couple of weeks. Really, if they are releasing the game in 2010 you would think they need to get it out by August at the latest. In my this opinion means they need to start feeding the public some serious info in June to give at least 2 months for word of mouth promotion of the game, ahead of the likely TV campaign which would probably begin a couple of weeks out from release.

hahaha, so they mean another year or so i guess

Supposedly meant to have news released this month. So Tomorrow, Friday or Monday there should be news. If not then I'll expect them to announce that they have delayed the game till they complete 'Truth or Lies'. Because it is gonna be an amazing game......

i'd rather they put it out as the Nab cup starts and have the updated list than be playing it over christmas and having delisted players in there. unless they update it at draft time.

I just want an AFL game out that includes all the players drafted in the last few years etc.

I'm really not too fussed if it's not that much better than the last effort in AFL 2007 (Apart from the fact all the players having the stamina of Stewy Dew and Frasier Gehrigs love child.)

So i'm of the hurry the F*#K up and get a game out group, that's been waiting for 3 years now.

Please let me know if this has been mentioned as I'm late to this thread, but I'm just wondering whether the delays are potentially due to Big Ant/AFL wanting the Gold Coast represented in this game. There's probably little point of releasing 'AFL 2010' when we're almost halfway through the season, so perhaps they'll wait and see what the GC list and jumper will be for 2011.

If this is the case, there'd better be easy ways to re-create 2010 teams if Ablett goes to GC! :p

TMS - Nothing has yet been confirmed about the game being delayed due to the inclusion of GC17.

Hell, if they're gonna delay it for GC, they may aswell just wait another year on top of that and include GWS.

Sorry I wasn't clear - that was just my theory, not something I'd read.

I agree with you though - it'd be silly if this was something that delayed the game, given that it was originally supposed to have been released by now.

I'd love to have a third-party contract with the AFL - seems like they don't enforce deadlines even if they endorse something. ;)

As long as they have the GC jumper the rest shouldn't be a problem. Updating player rosters is easy. EA do it all the time with FIFA/Madden/etc. BigAnt could release AFL 2010 as soon as they have the design for the GC jumper, then just update the roster once the team is finalised.

They could even release the game once it's ready then just add GC17 as downloadable content at the start of 2011.

Actually, they should probably just call the game AFL 2011. If you look at other sports games, they're always named for the following year. FIFA 10 came out in 09, FIFA 11 comes out this year, and so on. They could release AFL '11 later on this year then just update it via DLC with any changes to the 2011 season.

I just hope they get it right.

I can wait until next year (and would prefer it as the players drafted would be in it, along with the GC), so long as the final product is good.

I don't think they should worry about the GC stuff, they should take full advantage of DLC and update the team when they know more about them.

Anyone think it'd be cool if there was a mode where you could create your own club from scratch then compete with it? Like design logo, jumper, and stuff like that? It'd be fun to field your own team and it'd encourage creativity.

I'm happy for a solid game with good gameplay before they decide what features to implement. It's all nice to throw in all these features but its for nothing if the game is unplayable

And rort the salary cap like you could in 07 and 08

The poor mans AFL 99 was on playstation. It had no fights in it.

The PC version was far superior.

I own both :)
