Mark Stevens calls Tom Lynch "a great advertisement for FA".

Going from the bottom side to the top side ?? Brilliant.
Worse was McAveney's statement that Lynch was a modern day Carey

Why look for excuses to loose. You are either good enough to win or you’re not
Fine come and play a GF at Adelaide oval when a SA team finishes top, in you're own words if you're good enough.....

Indeed. Isn't that interesting?

It's because Victorian clubs get different results when they make calls like that.

Pickett just debuted in the pressure of a home game. A home game with 80% of the crowd behind him, screaming his name, with him just expected to do his little bit as the 22nd player selected. Riding a tidal wave.

These clubs are not having the cauldron moments that shape organisations such as GWS faced today. That could ruin this generation of Giants players and define their club for a decade, or more.

Meanwhile Richmond enter this league every year knowing that they will never, ever face that. All roads lead home. It's two different leagues within the same competition.

When Andrew Macleod was tearing up the G in 97/98 this wasn’t an issue.

Nothing to do with being a better team at the moment either i guess.
The Tigers deserved to play the GF at the G by virtue of the fact they finished above the Giants after the home and away season... though the minor round draw is inequitable as it is. But in the last 4 years, Richmond have lost 4 times to the Giants away from home, and won the other couple of games played at the G... home ground advantage absolutely matters and it’s complete bollocks they get to play the biggest game of the year at the MCG regardless of whether or not they deserve that advantage.

He didn't have to do it with 90+ thousand opposition fans cheering against him.

Watch the highlights from that game again. Notice how neutral the crowd was back in those days?

Sorry i was referring to WCE better record at the G.

That is 11 of the last 13 premiers in Victoria now. And West Coast were horrifically close to making that 12.

There are so many reasons why this is unfolding. They are all structural.

I fear it's going to be a while before Adelaide supporters can handle that it is more the league than their football club.

Geelong, Richmond, Hawks were near invincible anyway. They hold 9 of those 13 flags. Collingwood 2010 barely looked like losing and the Dogs 2016 played possessed. Maybe interstate teams bar WC just aren't up to it.

The best thing is they own our licence and have a complicit board until at least 2028.

You think the chairman/president of Collingwood or Richmond wouldn't have gone bat s**t crazy as soon as Gold Coast started campaigning for a priority pick if they had an early pick?

We're in their pocket. Both SA teams are in their pocket. They've colonised us.

Would have been interesting if the Eagles and Swans played a Vic team in the 00s and not each other.

Seems the only way a non-Vic side has a decent chance of winning a flag is if they dont play a Vic team.

Given the state of play, Eagles and Lions are the only two non-Vic sides likely to make the 8 next year.

Giants? The core of their squad are still in their prime. Hopefully they don't fall into a heap like we did but no one else would go to a camp with the ******* Richmond song blaring on the bus.
