After reports that these people want to target all major western world cities, is it such a wise thing to book a ticket for the Grand Final (NRL or AFL) :(

And WCE it puts a whole new light on the CHOGM here in Brisbane in a few weeks. They were worried about protestors, I think they need to be worried about more than that now.

John Howard sending back the Afghani Boat People hasnt helped our reputation with us either

In light of todays events perhaps that wasn't such a bad idea.

Its this sort of reaction we have to guard ourselves against

The people on that boat are escaping terror

Yet you brand them merely because they are middle Eastern?

Tim McViegh was anglo saxon - does that make all of us dangerous

If we do not continue with our normal lives as much as possible then the terrorists have won. They must not be allowed this victory.

The people who did this must be brought to JUSTICE but we must mind against RESTRIBUTION and VIOLENCE as we all know that violence begets violence.

The fate of the world rests on a very delicate pedastal today.

Our thoughts go to all the people in New York and their families and friends. We can only hope that this is the last of it.

Do you know that for a fact?

I haven't branded them at all, merely voiced that perhaps caution is not such a bad thing to exercise right now.

If we do not continue with our normal lives as much as possible then the terrorists have won. They must not be allowed this victory.

And not taking any precautions will leave us open to this sort of thing happening again. I'd rather not see my family die just so that we can say "hey, at least we didn't let the terrorists win".

That it does but at the end of the day the only thing the people who perpetate these acts understand is violence. You can't reason with them, you can't plead with them, you can't negotiate with them you can only kill them.

Hear hear.

I can't imagine an AFL Grand Final being a target. If it comes down to the slaughter of lives, there must be plenty moire "attractive" targets. No, I think the symbolism of the world's most powerful nation on its financial (NY) and military (Pentagon) knees is the motivation.

If it came down to the slaughter of as many lives as possible, then i couldnt think of an easier target than 100 000 people sitting in a stadium.

But hopefully Australia doesnt get drawn into this

Ease doesn't appear to have much to do with it is my point. I doubt it would be easy to procure a couple of airliners and slam them into two of the tallest buildings in NY. It's the fact that they are American and were working in a symbol of America's power and wealth that makes everyone sit up and take notice.

It's currently 3:57am in January 2002 and I have a terrible premonition the MCG will be targeted in the future when it is packed !!!

it's been months since the disaster and I still am haunted by it I have a geniune feeling kinda like esp that it will happen

it's spooky !!

that's why I resurected this post
please read it and take care all of you guys ok !

i really couldn't care less if they killed me on my favorite day of the year...grand final day, in my favorite place to be...The MCG. Would die happy at least ay as long as it was after the game i seriously wouldn't be that bothered. If it was at the first game of the year then yes i would be upset.

thats bull****, why would anyone wanna bomb some little island away from everywhere to get a measly 100,000 Ozzies!!!
trust me austarlia would e one of the safest places on earth at the moment mostly because of lack of interest!

I think you're safe at the G. You might be able to kill 100 000 people there with a big enough bomb but not by flying a plane into it: you would only knock over one stand at worst.

Not to mention that on Grand Final day the sky is full of Air Force planes.

If something was going to be bombed in Australia, why wouldn't they have done it on New Year's Eve, when every capital city, not only Australia, is full of party goers. If something was going to happen, then i dare say, it would already of happened.

Of course, Ian Collins might set up an MCG explosion..
