That's an insane thing to say.

Geelong were heavy favourites going into the game and have been for a lot of the season

Collingwood spent the first half and a bit of the season well clear on top, then Adelaide had some good wins and they were well clear on top at the end.

Brisbane and Geelong were in the group with us, gws, freo, gold coast and western bulldogs that were in top 9 all year but bouncing up and down every week right up to the final round.

It was a Triple win today, for mine.

• Cats lose.
• Lions won by enough that we won’t have hear what a great game it was. Totally forgettable contest in the end.
• They take the flag back to QLD, not many Lions supporters to have to deal with down here in Melbourne.

A few ‘make me a Hawk’ announcements would be the cherry.

Geelong used all their moves and Trump cards to get in the grand final. They had nothing else to give. Patty was never playing 3qtrs this week in the middle. He didn't have the luxury of a week off.

Brisbane are powerhouse. The most talented team in the land going to be hard to beat next year

Wouldn't blame Cooper for sticking with Brisbane.

All his mates are playing for the club. They've got a terrific young core. They'll be competing for longer than we will be IMO. Just the nature of the beast when you get a free top 3 pick every year.

It’s all about depth in the midfield.
Geelong’s one wood is their 1,2,3 punch of Danger, Smith and Holmes. The rest are the support act. When one struggles, they are paper thin.
It was good enough to beat us. Those three smashed us.
Come up against a side with real midfield depth, like Brisbane, and they struggle. They can’t rotate a star midfielder into the mix, because they only have three.
That should be our learning from today.

I hate that idea that blow out grand finals are forgettable contests.

It is usually 1 side displaying absolute peak performance against a very very good opponent.

Us against Sydney in 2014 was a better game than 2012 which people rate. But 2012 was scrappy poor skilled game that we wasted chances and they got flukes. 2014 was one of the best footballing performances ever achieved.

This game, and Melbourne in 2021 and a few others have been a joy to watch a team just bully a good side and slice them up.

A big win like this in a grand final is far more impressive than people make out. People make out like it's the bulldogs beating up on West Coast.

Voting done halfway through the 4th quarter unless its changed. Ashcroft, Andrews and Cameron were probably best on ground by that point.
