Just watching this show and thinking they ( particularly King ) literally pull things out their arse and make up things up just to produce a show such as this...

Some may find it insightful but please you could also make a counter argument for what they dish up, Eade did that when they where pointing out Jolly hands on knees in the back pocket while Natanui competed on his own on the wing....

Anyway that's my two cents..... Bit bored on my IPad2 and thought I'd start a thread...

Well there is a lot of shows on tv, they have to talk about something. Its why a lot of the media seem to be so reactionary and quick to jump on and off teams/players.

Case in point the graphic Melbourne flogs have been pasting all over this site of jack watts of his stats over three games, what kind of sample size is that? I imagine the article was a puff piece of how he turned the corner after being dropped. Media shouldn't be so quick to get stuck into him but likewise shouldn't cream over some padded stats. Maybe a bit off topic but think it relates, media have to put together a show and have to put together a paper etc. The trick on our end is to sift the shit as efficiently as possible.

I saw Jolly have a go at Dawes when this happened. It was clearly Jollys fault as Dawes was playing in the forward line at the time. Don't shift the blame Darren when it was solely your fault for not getting to the next contest.

Culture of blame amongst players = very very unhealthy

All players need to take responsibility for a situation like this, not just Jolly and Dawes. If there were no ruckmen present at the contest, why didn't another player take the initiative and go up?

Hey, I've even seen Blair go up for the ruck before when there's been no ruckmen present.

I see Jolly whinge at players all the time when they overlook him (mostly when he's in the wrong position anyway), so it was no surprise he had a go at Dawes when that happened.

Jolly CLEARLY cost us a goal there, but hard to fault him for that one incident when he had a good game.

It's hard though because that was SUCH a costly goal.

Heath Shaw does it A LOT as well..... A couple of times he turned around and blasted Reid on the wknd for no apparent reason.

Yeh someone should've gone in the ruck even if it was a midfielder.

When I saw Jolly in the forward line blasting Dawes for his inability to get to that contest it kinda annoyed me.

How so?

Jolly pushed forward and provided an option, while NicNat bludged in the midfield and let him go. Jolly was deep in the pocket unmarked and Dawes was near the 50m arc when there was a turnover. When you're sharing ruck duties, the bloke nearest to the next stoppage HAS to make an effort to get there. Jolly had no chance whatsoever, so Dawes should have pushed hard to get to the boundary throw in, but didn't. I'm sure Jolly reminded him of his duties, as he is new to the ruck caper.

Both Jolly & Shaw are senior players and members of the leadership grou who are entitled to 'have a go' at teammates who don't pull their weight where appropriate.

Agree Thommo.

I remember Shaw having similar words to Keeffe when he first broke into the side. It isn't necessarily a bad thing depending on the circumstance, delivery and individuals involved.

Shaw always does it, but the team understand his intent so they don't have trouble with it, it's just a part of his base personality.

Don't go up in the ruck against NicNat. Feign as if no-one's going to go up, and as soon as he takes the ball from the stoppage rather than tap it; tackle him.

Prior opportunity -> free kick.

But would the Umps pay that?

I disagree. I think it's wrong for players to go postal at their teammates on the field, leaders or not, for any reason.

What does it achieve? It emboldens the opposition - it can only be good for the opposition's morale. For the player on the receiving end, it can take their mind away from the game and to an unhealthy place. We have players who are confidence players - a situation like that can't be good for the confidence of those players.

There simply is nothing good that can come of it, it can only be bad. So don't do it.

Yeah, sure, it might simply be venting a bit of frustration. But it's ill-discipline. Whacking Steven Milne might seem like the most valid, logical and justified action in the world, but it is ill-discipline.

I'd imagine 9 times out of 10 the player is fully aware that they've fornicated up. The best thing their teammates can do is to rally around him and tell him to forget about it and move on. For that other 1 time out of 10 his teammates should be be able to deliver the message in an appropriate manner.

Alastair Lynch and King are absolutely ridiculous. Insider is an absolutely shocking show. They break down bits of play that not even god himself could replicate. I dunno, it's all good have a camera on top of the stadium that breaks down every movement a player makes in a certain passage of play but how the hell can you pick up on that at ground level? I'd describe the show as farfetched.
