One is COLLINGWOOD the other is sponsored by the AFL
The AFL has cleared coaches to use their mobile phones during matches despite concerns being raised about the optics. Greater Western Sydney coach Leon Cameron was the latest coach pictured with his iPhone in the box during a match — the device placed next to his laptop during Sunday night's game atManuka Oval.

Maybe Leon Cameron is one of the approved 10 at GWS?

& the Sydney player with the boots that were illegal? Isaac Quaynor gets his leg slashed & misses weeks, just a warning, don’t do it again, no fine needed, another AFL sponsored team. It should have been a suspended fine just like Scott’s.

It's a strange phenomenon Jmac, people will use incidents like this and make a connection as to reasons why we are 1 and 4. Some sort of direct link is claimed and correlated to on field performance. Our list issues are very real and arise from very different reasons

There once was a club that in the space of 6 or 8 months had multiple Covid breaches, drunken skirmishes outside a souvlaki joint, a player locked up in jail for weeks, entitled captains wife, tacky spats between said wife and coach, coaches affair with club employee whilst in the AFL bubble.

Where were their leaders? well we can imagine what they were in fact doing!
What a shitshow of a club they must be?
What clowns they must have running things?

The horror and outrage washed away in the next shower for one reason and one only. They won and were brilliant at it, they continue to win ( mostly) so every structure and process they have must be gold standard.

Sometimes you have to remember to see the forest for the trees.
Granted the Tigers on field 2020 totally defied their off field 2020. They managed the damage control very well, But they are not subject to the Collingwood microscope. I think the noise is so loud and unrelenting at Collingwood it’s more likely off field will impact on field. Our issues are ALWAYS magnified, self inflicted or not. if it was us who won the flag after the year the tigers had, we would still be hearing how it should be stripped from us. Also Lachie Hunter > 0.05, Luke Hodge. They fly under the radar. We just need to accept Collingwood held to a different standard.

everything you’ve listed there is just Sydney Stack making bad decisions, which way always going to happen because that’s who he is, not a real indicator of a wider cultural problem I would suggest... as for Cotchins wife and Dimma breaking up with his wife due to multiple factors, again, probably doesn’t have a lot to do with the footy department culture and shows you are really scraping the barrel. Wanna compare those to our list of indiscretions?

Little things like the phone situation is a indicator of a broader cultural problem.
It’s an indicator of two players making a silly mistake.
That’s all.

You totally missed the point, maybe it wasn't clear.

Because the media primarily tows a line, an incident occurs, a club in in crisis after a loss or two.
The point is simply that it's not linked to the other, the automatic assumption of cause and effect.
It's a pity critical thinking seems to be in short supply.

Just imagine for a moment Collingwood won the other evening; how do you think this incident would have played out. Would it have been different?
List our indiscretions and i can find any number of clubs that can top them, again, that's not the point.
The point is we are a very average football side, plateauing at best, with no President, a coach soon out of contract, an unbalanced list etc ..

Collingwood is news, GWS, Sydney and a host of other clubs are not. So the media will grab anything they can related to the Pies because it draws eyeballs etc.

The AFL come down hard as it gets publicity for their 'tough' stance.

Lets face it of this was a couple of GWS players who would care? It would not rate or sell one extra news paper.

You can’t be serious?

Look I only posted twice in this thread but I have NFI why it is 12 pages long.

Those that know me understand I don’t subscribe to the “woe is me” but the only reason we got fined for such a trivial thing is because we’re Collingwood.

Or perhaps its time to consider that our club has not been all that well run over the last couple of years.

The club was told weeks ago to tighten its process and didn't. This is another in a long list gaffes by the club over the last couple of years, most of which the club continues to find excuses for and try and spin its way out of it. I love this club but we are a bit of a basket case at the moment. The soon we get some good strong leadership and a higher level of accountability in all departments the better.

Yes Gary Lyon, I think this is serious. The most serious challenge facing football today; not the way the competition has been compromised by the AFL both owning and regulating participants in a conflict so big you could award it its own postcode, or the constant rule changes on rule changes, or the derisory quality of umpiring or the dilution of talent across too many clubs or the oncoming concussion related liability tsunami. THIS. RIGHT HERE. Is what we must and indeed shall be outraged and motivated by today.

I think the players should be KILLED, then their entrails distributed around every stadium in the country and hung from gates as a warning, then they should be RAISED FROM THE DEAD AND KILLED AGAIN just to be sure everyone has got the message about how this is presumably big or something presumably. Then the club should be burned to the ground, it's ashes fed to the wolves and then we should BLOW UP THE WOLVES WITH C4 while ensuring the explosion is supervised by the guy who used to do it on Mythbusters because he was kind of fun to listen to. Fire in the hole!

This and nothing less is required to motivate outrage based media consumption behaviours to monetise nothing into his next pay cheque and further obscure his innate low character as a root rat of biblical proportions.

So sayeth the SEN trashmedia kraken

CAWWWWWWWWW!!!!

Gerard has been worse about this subject. Wants a million dollar fine and automatic 11 week suspension.

Spot On as Proof with Cameron.

They are GWS so people don't give a S**t and plus the AFL Try and Hide any Negatives from the Northern State Sides

They should still know better.

Guy who left it Open should be Sacked

You're going to turn over a lot of staff if you sack everyone who makes a mistake.
