Rumour AFL investigating senior coach - social media activites

Hearing some pretty wild stuff coming out of an AFL club right now.

Apparently one of the senior coaches is being looked into by the league for some dodgy social media activity….engaging with controversial far-right figures and divisive political personalities online, with suspected links to money laundering - so much so that it’s drawn the attention of the AFP.

Word is the AFL’s integrity unit is investigating, and the coach’s club is also seriously worried about how bad this could get if it blows up.

No official word yet but sounds like both the league and the club are pretty rattled behind the scenes. Watch this space — could get very messy if the cops are involved.

Just to clear up, when we were talking about a senior coach there and I was mumbling my way through about money laundering, I was trying to say, 'imagine the old days of trying to get people in for publicity', and I've mumbled my way through that, so anyone who thought I was having a go or being a smart alec, I take that back.

Not sure where I was going halfway there; I was that exhausted this morning, so apologies to that. But I was thinking, you know, in the old days, in these situations, the publicity and that type of thing. I was off on a tangent somewhere.

Can’t confirm or deny the club but it’s incredible that one of the politically-minded journos (Caroline Wilson, Sam McClure, et. al.) hasn’t mentioned the kind of accounts Dimma follows on twitter/X.
