Why? Everyone is here because they love AFL. Why should we just "get over" the fact that we had a brilliant opportunity to finally have a game series that does our sport justice, and instead we're going backwards fast. AFL fans have been shat on for far too long in regards to video games. We shouldn't have to just "get over it".
because others that want to read opinions on the actual game and maybe get some news and footage don't want to hear any of that shit. Anyone saying they're going to return the game or not get it isn't helping AFL video games in the long run

I actually think poor sales of this game would HELP AFL video games in the future.

We went out and bought lots of copies of AFL 1 on xbox and ps3. What were we rewarded with? The company that made a decent first attempt being shafted and instead getting a game by Wicked Witch which had only produced far-inferior Wii and IOS versions.

If this game is a huge flop then it may push Tru Blu to giving up the AFL licence and another publisher picking it up, possibly with Big Ant. Or maybe Tru Blu keep the licence but realise it'd be better having BA or another, good development team make it.

I'd rather Tru Blu **** off, they've proven their incompetence by allowing this trash to be released.

i'm pretty sure a while back in a similar thread, ross said that the first AFL game struggled to make a profit

Yeah but that was expected. He expects a loss on the first cricket game too.

It was a long term idea though. He definitely said, either at the play tests or on Big Footy, that the first version was all gameplay and the second version was to have a career/manager mode, and a proper one...

The first game needed to change the public opinion of all AFL games being crap. That hurt their sales yet wasn't their fault because they had nothing to do with the previous games.

Now if they do a third game, whether it be AFL Live 3 or some other name, they'll again have to clean up the stench associated with football games.

1000 likes for the first guy who posts a close up of the crowd behind the goals
Reminds me, I got to play the game shortly this evening. Fremantle fans behind the goals still wearing red and green, while the team is running around in purple.

wicked witch pls.

Well....i like it. Its a bit of fun. Sure its no Big Ant AFL Live but this is more of an arcade game where Big Ants was a full on sim. Its fun....I purchased it and ill keep on playing. Any AFL game deserves support....!

With non-existent competition, I think that Cricket 14 is the only thing that will be worth comparing this game to considering their both a niche market developed in Australia

One major issue sticks out from that video and it was one that I was afraid of reading the manual: overpowered kicks. Thomas has a set shot from about 55 and the kick is over charged/goes into the red portion of the power bar, but instead of a slewed 60 metre kick, it travels 20 metres sideways. If you don't time it right, by all means, slew it left or right, but a full blooded mis-kick is still going to travel a fair old distance. I'd be rectifying that asap, it's a bit silly.

So if you move your players to different positions on the field, the player number stays exactly the same as the person who was in that spot.

Its confusing seeing Henderson run around as number 22. All the numbers were messed up because I moved players around. Pretty annoying to be honest lol

LOL the commentators sound so shit.
They are piss funny though. Some of Dennis' lines... Collingwood playing GWS and Tom Harley straight out picks GWS. Dennis: "That was uh... very deep, Tom"

Then during the game, "What did they use to call him on school... butterfingers!"
And then after a shit kick Dennis goes "What did you think of that Tom?" and Harley says really quickly "Absolute rubbish" Haha

EDIT: Another from the ruck contest. Dennis: "Try swinging at it first next time! And that's coming from a guy wearing make-up"

Will probably be fixed in a patch I assume. But **** me if that's not a glaring error, where are the beta testers? I have been super positive throughout this whole ordeal but that's an unforgivable mistake.

That's a downer about the numbers. Remember the farce with AFL 2004 not saving team configurations? You'd pick your lineup, start the game and boom, back to the default. No way of patching it so they had to re-release the game and anyone who sent their copy back (like me) got a free updated copy and a questionnaire asking for suggestions. They must have taken them seriously because I was asked to join a focus group to test the next iteration. There was pizza.

I agree. I always wonder what goes through these companies heads when they make video games.

So many EASY mistakes made which in the end shows how truly lazy they are.

Is it that hard to google a picture of Tom Bell to see what hair color he has? It just astounds me that throughout all of the meetings they would have had, nobody brings up any of these OBVIOUS issues that any AFL supporter would be able to pick up on.

Seriously how long would it take to google a player and write down what color their hair is!!???

Another nice little feature, all other games in career mode have normal scores. So while my 2.5 minute quarter games are yielding scores like 30-36, all the other games are finishing with scores like 120-110. Gonna make winning the Coleman tough.

Also, kind of weird how the marking animation they use like half the time looks like the player is picking up a half volley. Strange.
