AFL Live Pass vs FoxFooty

Great question.

I'm in the same boat.

Foxtel losing EPL is the clincher.

About to get cable at 100mbps, so streaming is the way forward. Can only hope we get hd streaming options soon for AFL, though its hardly available on tv let alone streaming.

We are so behind the times in Aust.
Holy crap, when did this happen? I know they lost Europa League, Champions League and League Cup. If they lose EPL I am out

I have cut back Foxtel from $134pm to $60. Keeping it just for Fox Footy,EPL and Cricket. Movies and tv shows are practically free these days. There are cheaper alternatives but the picture quality on the big screen can't be beat. HD and can record it too.

You say that like a good TV is a disposable piece of technology...

Upgradable not disposable

Im lucky we have 3 tvs. Usually the top one gets upgraded and its a shuffle down the order.

People aeem intent on paying $55 minimum which most would go for a $70-80 plan with telstra just to get some data.

Where i can pay $20 a month get better data use the Telstra 4g service through Boost and have unlimited text whilst using the phone i have now.

One of the cons would be using the S4 (which i like) instead of the S5-S6 with paying a bit more above.

If your willing to spend $60 extra per month for 24 months than maybe youd be better off putting that towards a decent smart tv.

Just my opinion im not a big tech savy guru so i could be off the mark

He already has a decent TV by virtue of having a smart TV, so it's more a question of how long is it in its lifecycle versus the current product lifecycle.

As things stand, there's going to be a shift to OLED at some point, he'd be best advised waiting it out.

Organic LED. Supposed to have better contrast, colours, deeper blacks, etc. Is also being used to develop flexible displays.

The blacks are generally deeper because of the way the screen is illuminated, essentially the diodes switch off to produce the black.

Also makes them more energy efficiency in such conditions, but conversely they do have issues operational issues overall with blue LEDs burning out earlier in life, though they've been using white LEDs to try and fix this.

Still a work in progress but if you're hearing about screens you can bend and flex, chances are it's an OLED tech. Way of the future and all that jazz.

Picture quality is everything to me - I watch surfing, baseball, skiing etc etc that I would never have watched in the past, simply because they look so good. I simply cannot settle for second best when it comes to my viewing and thus I fork out for Foxtel. I reckon pic quality was half the attraction of the series Madmen but I knew I really had a serious problem when I stopped following Aussie harness racing and swapped to French harness racing just for the magnificent HD quality on LeTrot tv (Youtube)

For me Foxtel just doesn't represent value for money now there are so many online options available.

It might sound harsh but Rupert Murdoch is also a huge motivating factor in ditching Foxtel.
A bit harsh? In addition to other dubious activities, that bloodsucker sponges taxpayer dollars in credits from the ATO i.e. us, to prop up News Corp 'losses'. There is a special place in hell reserved for Rupert.
