Re: AFL Live PC version, when?

lol... so how much do you think the PC version has grossed?

It's a pretty disappointing thing for PC gamers that you haven't bothered to release the game when logic says it should've been quite a straightforward process.

I'm an AFL fanatic but I'm not much of a gamer, so I'm hardly going to buy it on any other platform and fork out 300+ for a console I'm otherwise not going to use. I've already made that mistake with the PS2 AFL games.

It's disappointing how you're treating this segment of the market, regardless of how small it is.

Big Ant Studios are the developer - we have no say over what and when things will be released.

So who does have the say over this? I presumed Big Ant did seeing as you've been the one updating us as to the 'progress' of PC releases?

It's not Big Ant...It's Tru Blu Entertainment

In that case my bad, but it'd still be nice to at least be told the project's scrapped if that's the case.

Re: AFL Live PC version, when?

Sounds all too familar.....first the console edition was delayed, then cricket was announced and delayed 2 years, now the PC version....

Fed up waiting....I finally give up!

Re: AFL Live PC version, when?

Why doesn't Big Ant just find another publisher, why not THQ they published AFL Premiership 2005 which was half decent.

Something happened with THQ, dont forget Big Ant didn't make 2005, and the other games they produce are published by Tru Blu, However, THQ or Ea Games (Not Likely) would be good.

Yeah I just said that because I was looking through big ants site and noticed that they have worked with thq before EA would be awesome and may help promote AFL worldwide but I agree... I don't see that happening. Konami or even Ubisoft could help.

Re: AFL Live PC version, when?

They should look at doing some sort of International sales via XboxLive Games as a download only. Reduces the need for any major outlay(AFAIK), allows maybe a few more incidental sales and helps raise awareness overseas.

Might be an option for AFL2013?

Hmmm good idea that's how Tru blu are getting AFL gold edition overseas using iTunes.

Re: AFL Live PC version, when?

I dont really think AFL would attract people from other countries, thats why EA isn't publishing them anymore

Re: AFL Live PC version, when?

There's always emigrants. Certainly not worth putting it on shelves in other countries, but an online version would attract a few.

Re: AFL Live PC version, when?

Video games area good way at getting people into sports.

I had never watched an NFL game in my life an had barely even heard about it in Aus until the Madden games.
I played it, couldnt understand what was going on but didnt take too long to get the hang of it an have fun playing it an start to learn the rules.
After playing the games it made me watch some NFL but it was extremely boring.
The games made me make an effort t find out when NFL was on Aus tv an watch it.

Same goes for NHL them games were awesome but before that i had never watched ice hockey.
The games made me want to watch it on TV an i actually liked it, only thing i didnt like is there wasnt as many big body checks the game led me to believe.

No harm in them putting it out their for the rest of the world via steam.
Some will of heard about our football before an if its reasonably priced (not $80+ like they rip us off with) many will give it a try.
They may not understand whats going on but they will have fun an think its a good full of action sports game.

If its costly for a games company to get steam to sell their games online.
Speak to the AFL an mention how its a great way to get the younger generation to take notice of the sport an grow the exposure.
See if they can chip in some $$$

Although ofcourse there is no PC version getting released so no chance of it on steam.

Re: AFL Live PC version, when?

I suppose the difference is that the US sports games tend to be the pinacle of their genre.

It's easier for an Australian to have a go at a US sports game made by EA or 2K, since they tend to be technically excellent, than an American to have a go at an Australian sports game, particularly the first game of a series.

As you say, though, it seems to be moot. It'd be ludicrous to release a PC version now.

Its also no chance because of what little market they may have it will still not be worth what it costs to use Steam.

Re: AFL Live PC version, when?

well looks like i was wrong.
they are still planning on releasing this.

I sent an email to find out if its still going to be released.
An basicly told them if it is still being released its stupid to of left it so late an it would be stupid to release it now unless they plan on updating the rosters to match the season thats just about to start.

Remember if any pc gamers out there are still interested in this.
DO NOT PIRATE IT
Need as many sales as possible if we ever want to see another one released on pc
support the struggling local companies, there not making millions like EA etc

Re: AFL Live PC version, when?

do you know how much it cost to post a game on steam???

Given that some very minor games get put up there, including ones with very niche audiences, I imagine there are some reasonable options.

Re: AFL Live PC version, when?

"CARLTON will open its 2012 season at the MCG against Richmond on Thursday March 29th without Andrew Walker, Michael Jamison, Nick Duigan and Rob Warnock" - guess I was lied too? (ie you plan things and then stuff happens....)

All I can say is that if there was no AFL PC version coming then that would have been announced, it would not be in anyone's interests to do otherwise.

Steam charge on sales volume, so it comes out of your revenue.

I really wish I could work out their rationale - We've had Sprint Cars up on Steam but have issues with other games.... then there are little indie games that make it... hard to fathom. I would like all of our games to be on Steam.
