Re: AFL LIVE 2011 - 360, PS3 & PC - Part 14 - READ FAQ BEFORE POSTING

Anybody clarify who did the ratings? I am pretty confused how Swan is only a 91, then Didak 90, Pendlebury 83.....I would have thought All-Australians would all mostly be 85 or over.

The 2 that scare me are Sidebottom (66) and Beams (59), even though in my opinion they are both better than Blair (74). Sidebottom deserves at least a 76-77 especially after his final campaign last year.

Wtf!?! That is just plain wrong. Sidebottom is easily a 74 imo, Beams around 68-69 at least, Blair should be the 59 if anyone (even though he should be higher too)... You sure about those? haha

Pendlebury should be around 86-87, same with Didak. Swan at 91 is about right imo. He is a deadset GUN!

EDIT: Oh but of course, you can edit them. So it's all good :thumbsu:

Seems very accurate to me.

Agreed. I understand that while Sam Fisher, James Gwilt, Sam Gilbert are super important to our team and great players.. I wouldn't expect any of them to be over 70.
Maybe Fish.. but with his kicking issues, that's gotta drag his numbers down.

Have to agree with the Collingwood folk.. they do seem a little low for those players but as we all know we can change them so it's all good.

Christmas has nothing on the anticipation & excitement I have for this game!

Re: AFL LIVE 2011 - 360, PS3 & PC - Part 14 - READ FAQ BEFORE POSTING

Don't know why you would complain about Collingwood players not having stand out individual numbers. Their strength is their evenness across the ground and gameplan. They don't have to rely on the "top 5 players" to fire like a St Kilda to win.

If you don't agree then you're a tad one eyed. :)

Re: AFL LIVE 2011 - 360, PS3 & PC - Part 14 - READ FAQ BEFORE POSTING

Seems very accurate to me.

I'd swap Pendlebury and Didak, then Pendlebury and Swan. I'd then Trade Sidebottom and Blair, and Beams and Blair.

So Basically

Pendlebury 91, Swan 90, Didak 83
Sidebottom 74, Beams 66, Blair ?? whatever that other rating was.

That's just me though

Re: AFL LIVE 2011 - 360, PS3 & PC - Part 14 - READ FAQ BEFORE POSTING

I wish i was passionate enough to get super fired up about player ratings. I feel silly only worrying about things like gameplay and presentation.
First people were worrying the game won't be hard enough, now they're complaining that the stats are low.
People wanted more customization, then they want to know who's going to do their custom player's stats for them.
Ross, i think the old saying that you can't please all the people all the time really rings true here.

Exactly. I expected a few Collingwood players to have relatively high stats ( Swanny, Pendles and Dids) but the rest would be pretty average. Our main strength is our evenness around the ground, which i think Big Ant have displayed very well! :thumbsu:

Seriously you guys complaining about player ratings need to get over it, if your not happy with them you can edit them, the big ant guys are doing there best, you cant expect them to have everything 100% accurate, just be thankful they are putting all there effort into making this game the best AFL game released and from what i have seen they have succeeded so instead of bitching about ratings how about showing your appreciation.
I get the feeling that everyone will be doing a bit of editing. ;)

I'm going to leave my ratings alone. Deal with the unbiased hand that's delt.

This. Once Fev is removed from the starting Brisbane lineup (unless thats done automatically) and I am drafted into the ruck for the Saints.. everything else will be as it's meant to be.

Re player ratings,
Don't forget that Ross has stated multiple times that ratings go up & down based on form (and I'm not sure, injury?)

So what's to say Beams isn't rated a bit higher than what is shown there.
Things will change in your game vs any & every other game out there let alone when you start modding player stats.

Re: AFL LIVE 2011 - 360, PS3 & PC - Part 14 - READ FAQ BEFORE POSTING

Isn't there a seperate forum for 'Player Ratings'?

I'm pretty sure there is so all you ladies can go and debate this over there!

From a desginer here at Big Ant:

dbeams has been quoted as being a 59, but that would be when he's out of position, while spendlebury is in fact highly regarded with a score of 88 as ruck rover
Player RUC FB CHB CHF FF RR Rov C W BP HBF HFF FP
dbeams 31 50 51 57 56 73 73 65 74 58 59 74 64
spendlebury 35 62 63 69 68 88 84 76 84 68 68 81 76

As said, don't take what people are posting on here as gospel, players could be injured, in a form slump or moved out of position.

edit: Sorry Ant :)

Thanks for clarifying this Ross, even though you didn't need to. This makes sense and Beams' ratings look perfect to me here. His best position is as a forward pocket or in the guts and the ratings above show this.

Pendlebury is exactly the same, perfect ratings.

On a separate note, will there be anywhere we can see all this information for any given player; either in game or online? This would be super-handy information to have (at the risk of being a nagging Collingwood supporter)...

You have access to it in game when you move a player around the field you will see his stats change according to the position.

I think north have been hard done by with a 3 star rating. young developing list that finished 9th last year rated the same as the team that got the spoon doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. i agree with most the other ratings but north should be a 3 1/2 equal with essendon melbourne and the like.

agree??

Agreed. How a team that finished with 11 wins can be an equal rating as a team that finished with 4 is a bit rich. We beat Melbourne whenever we play them and also finished above them on the ladder yet they are 3 1/2 stars... We were equal on wins with Carlton yet they are a star higher than us.

I actually don't think the ratings are going to give that much of an advantage anyway so it's no big deal, but it's a little annoying how North are underrated even when people have the stats right in front of them.

If it's similar in mechanics as say FIFA, when you move someone out of position, there would be dynamic updating of thier stats, beside thier name for instance?

Edit: Ninja'd by the grand master himself.

I'd guess that for instance, Carlton, are higher than you because thier 4 guns are better than your 4 guns. Carltons top 4 ratings would be Judd, Gibbs?, Murphy?, Carazzo?, Kreuzer? etc. Who would Norf's be and would they be better? I'd doubt it.

Well that explains it....

Beamsy is really 73.

Judd - Harvey
Murphy - Swallow
Kreuzer - Petrie/Goldstein
Gibbs - Wells
Carazzo - Rawlings

Admittedly we have a young side, and I believe Carlton should be higher ranked than us, I just think north should be at least equal with Melbourne and Richmond on 3 1/2. But again I don't believe this will have much effect on the game at all and most of their ratings are spot on imo.

I agree with your comparisons... but the Blues players would only need to have 5 points extra each to give them a higher star rating.

It shouldn't have an effect on the game, only if you're going to simulate one team against another.

I think if we give it a few weeks (after launch) there will be spreadsheets with every players stats per position... I hope so anyway! I'll be doing one for Collingwood when I get bored :)

P.S. Just laid down my pre-order at the Elizabeth Street store in the Melbourne CBD!!

I agree with your "Evenness" statement.

But why would either of Beams or Sidebottom be lower than a kid who hasn't even played an AFL game (Mitch Wallace)?

That's got to be an error....
