i was today years old when i realised that the "A" in the old AFL logo is from the aussie flag

No Way Mac GIF by It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Now that you've realised that - you must admit, it's a pretty clever design šŸ˜›

No need to change. Current logo does everything it needs to do
Knowing the AFL, they'll bow to pissy minority sentiment and have something trans, gay and indigenous mooshed together in a rushed attempt to appease the squeaky wheel

I just want good footy without all the extra crap

Current logo is excellent, and despite not appreciating it when launched back in 2000, I think it's a timeless logo now.

Thank you for your hateful input on this graphic design board, Grandpa. Time for your meds and early bedtime, I reckon.

Not hateful.
I just don't want the AFL to get involved in social politics
For the record, I am also part of a sexual minority. I don't need celebration. I just want footy without all the extra commentary.

The current logo is brilliant. I believe most people are happy with it

90s footy was great though, even without the rose-coloured glasses or the insistence that everything was better in our day
I loved the 85-2000 era. I don't think the game is any better now than it was then. It's different, and not all for the better.

While the current logo does what it needs to do and is better than the 1990-1999 AFL logo, 90s AFL was fantastic. I am truly glad I was able to witness it.

I also wish I was older, and had the opportunity to go to the VFA before it was hijacked by the AFL

Hello guys.
I'd like to give my idea for new AFL logo.
My idea is red and blue shield and A(without line, it is like 'ʌ') and ball in under ʌ, inspired from old VFL logo.

Wont happen

The whole idea for the change back in 1999 was to have AFL clearly on the logo like the NFL, wont be just an A.

Still hoping the whole idea was a incorrect rumor or canned, we dont need to change it.

Oh, sorry, this is my mistakes.

A bit of a work-in-progress and very far from finished with a lot of refining needed.

Given the AFLW logo is based on the goal post, figured the AFL might want similar for the Men’s comp and bring consistency between the two. Screenshot 2024-02-11 at 12.17.34.png

It’s a long shot - but does anyone know where these were originally posted? Only have it saved as low-res…tried a reverse image search and coming up with nothing.

The motivation to change it would be to have a wordmark that can stand alone, then have add-ons for each competition to delineate from the governing body itself.

For example...

Colours could be described as blueberry for the boys, strawberry for the girls. Put together they give something like the colour scheme of the current AFL logo, better than the current ugly clash of red-and-blue vs charged coral.

You're too smart making the premiership cup look like an "M". The AFL would never.
