Re: Afl Macakay

Yes, great effort to Branchflower winning the double and thoroughly deserved, any onballer that has an influence around the ground and kicks multiple goals when resting in the forward line is invaluable to any team.

What do you think of the ground conditions at Rogers oval after your Saturday morning training session?
The ground is in better condition then when we played there a few weeks ago. There are still a few patches that are suspect, i think every ground has a couple of dodgy patches though.

Whats your thoughts on the prelim final PH? Im sure you would be stoked with the result.

Obviously i'm very pleased with the result, playing in grand finals is was footy's all about.
I was always confident that the Swans could kick 15-16 goals, so 17 was a bonus, it was a matter of whether the Swans could hold the Hawks to less, which they did.
It was a 5-6 goal wind towards the scoreboard end so those 3 goals in the 1st quarter into the breeze were very important and restricting them to only 5 was equally as important.
The 2nd quarter didn't go to plan with the Hawks kicking the 1st two into the breeze but to the boys credit they banged on the next 9 to be 32pts up at half time.
From there on it was almost a repeat of the 1st half.
I wouldv'e been confident of coming home with the breeze in the last if the Swans were 2-3 goals behind so being 10pts up with the wind and the scoring end in the last was a bonus and the rest is history.

How was the game from a spectators point of view.

The side that played the best footy going against the wind was always going to be hard to beat.
I think the first quarter put you guys in a really good position to take control with the wind at your back in the second term.
It didnt look like a very physical game, i expected there to be a bit biffo through out the game but both sides just went about their business. The closest thing to some biffo would have been the Swans player laying a big bump on his own team mate on the wing. It was pretty funny!

It wasn't as physical as i thought it may have been and to the Hawks credit they stayed discipline even when the game seemed out of reach, unlike Bakers the week before.
Every one pulled up pretty good which is pleasing.

Yeah the bump may have looked funny to you guys but i was bloody relieved when they both got up unharmed, better two go at it than none i suppose.

It wasn't a bad feed Saturday night, did you blokes go straight home or have a sniff around the town?

The spread was great on Saturday night, I think i may have eaten 4 meringues.:D
We went straight home, 7 blokes out of the 15 of us were pumping out zzz's before we even got out of Mackay.

Were they meringues, i thought it was pavlova!

Feel sorry for the MC, do you think any one heard what he saying.
How's the rep jumper presentation, it was almost the Bakers Creek team!

Yep your right, they were Pavs. The cheescake was a bit to sour for my taste buds.
The sound system was a probably the only thing i could say was average for the night. When the guests started to talk amongst themselves you couldnt hear a word he was saying.
There would have been approx 10 Bakers boys play in the rep game.

Re: Afl Macakay

The two major posters on this the AFL Mackay site are conspicuous by their absence this week.

We are aware by now that PINNACLE HEALTH is in fact the Swnnies coach and would be deep in the pocess of making his meticulous plans for this weeks big Grand Finale.

There is a bit more mystery surrounding the identity of his website mate to quick ,who seems to have a detailed knowledge of everything that happens up at Airlie Beach.IS HE IN FACT their coach Gavin Kruele or maybe the MJ Miller Medal winner Limbblossom?

Please come out of the closet guys[figuratively speaking] and give us some info.Perhaps all will be revealed post Saturday night.

Heres to a great game and go Swannies.........

Nah nothing conspicuous about it , just been busy the last couple of days.
I doubt that Toquick is Gav or Branchflower but you never know!

You going to the Granny John?

Would any one out there be game, or stupid, enough to tip against the Eagles this Saturday, and if so why?

Wouldn't miss it for quids PH,I missed last year due to a family wedding in Tassy and look what happened.
Halfway through the year i saw Swans play Whit. and i thought you might get the wooden soon, terrible that day but to the clubs credit you have made it and on our own ground.
Your right ,no one in their right mind would tip against the Eagles but you have to be in it to win it.
Expect a big crowd and a lot of support.

Re: Afl Macakay

I wonder when ''toquick'' is going to resurface?

I'm sure toquick will post soon and to his credit he came up to me after the game and introduced himself to me which was good of him, especially after he must of been devastated from the loss,I can't imagine it would've been a pleasant bus trip home.

Hey John, did we speak before the game?

After reading the David v Goliath comment it definately rang a bell, i even said to my partner that i spoke to a couple before the game that mention that very same thing and this may be a clue but for life of me i can't 100% recall who you are.
I do remember vaguely you were with your wife when you quoted the above.

Are your wife and yourself attending the presentation night friday week.

Re: Afl Macakay

Well isnt footy a very harsh game.

There is always a winner and a loser in a GF unfortunately we were the team on the day that lost.

F*CK!

First day back on deck today for the week after a mammoath session with the boys to catch back up on a few weeks with out a beer.

Congratulations to Paul Branchflower who won our B and F ahead of Brendan McGrath then Nick O'Riely.

Re: Afl Macakay

Are you going around again Dave?

No suprise Branchy won your B&F, did the big flower win it by much and just curious when was the count held?

I signed a two year contract at the start of the year with the option of the second if both parties were happy, ive been offered the job next season, suprise suprise, and at this stage it would be hard not to accept althought i think i should quit while im ahead!!

Is Gav saddling up again?

As you can imagine ive watched the match dvd a few times, that was a nice look away hanball you did to McGrath in the last qtr.

The count was held on Tuesday night, Im not sure of the end result votes wise.

Not sure on Gav at this stage, we have presentation night this weekend so will hear more about who will be coaching then.

Did the hand ball go straight to one of your blokes? I have killed all the brain cells that stored my memories of Saturday.

Nah mate hit its target infact it was pretty slick! On the far flank just outside 50.

How were you guys the week leading upto the granny, were ya's very confident, quite confident or confident with a slight feeling of aprehension?

One of the few things that i didnt stuff up for the game. There werent many.

Training was pretty good leading in to the game and the feeling around the group was confident without being over confident. We had alot of grandfinal experience in our side with blokes like Boase (12 grand finals appereances) Ford (6) Ada (5) JR (4) Branchflower (6) some examples so we knew how to go about it and what to expect.
