Technically he's not a new coach, Saun Williams coached Bakers in 2009.

In my opinion the best footballer (on his day) to play in mackay in last 10 yrs would have to be Peter Farant. when he decided to turn it on ,he could do it up forward,in the middle and down back. Would say Mark Mooney would have to have been the most consistant over a long period of time and John Price the best over a 3 yr period. Having seen Austin Lucy play i would also agree he would be one of the better/best players to come to Mackay. Having said that, it is a tough competition where you need go and get the ball yourself and this wouldn't be a problem for him.

I play for the Maggie's & the two players that PH speaks of are close mates of current players & making the move up due to work , it's just lucky for us they are good key players from major leagues in Victoria.

Knowing the Prez, I doubt very much there is any cash involved, that's not what our club is about.

Also had a senior state league player from QLD sign tonite whom played on Austin Lucy last year & said Lucy was fairy respected by other sides but doesn't like close checking, which forward does!

Can't wait til rnd1 , bring it on!

True but Curra Swans where at the bottom before Gwynne took over.

Not many farmers produce A grade milk from B grade cattle.

Althought Cuura Swans have been up there the last couple seasons since his departure.

A great list can carry a coach , theres no doubt about that, and a good coach can turn an average list into a contender.

Ive played under good coaches but we had a poor team & ive played in great sides that were poorly coached, get the balance right is the key to success.

Some would say you did with the Swans in 2009 to defeat the Whitsundays Eagles & win the premiership, possibly the biggest upset ever?

I was there that day, the Swans tackling & pressure was awesome.

Looks like a wet week ahead for training, wish Mackay had a big indoor facility, I'm tipping we will be running up & down the hill all week!

I see in todays Cairns Post, North Mackay Saints had an advertisement looking for Coaches and Players for the 2012 season. I would have thought that clubs would have had their appointments sorted out by now. It's a bit late to be placing ads in the paper now. All Cairns clubs have their Coaches and players sorted and signed up.

On another note, Curra Swans play South Cairns Cutters this saturday in Townsville.

You are speaking of Chris Collins, he signed as Assistant Coach at North Mackay after training & shopping himself around at every club in town,
I hope for his sake he can play cos he wasnt shy in talking himself up!

Apparently Darryl Griffiths is the caretaker coach & may get the job if they cant find anyone else.

I heard today that he now wants out. Also heard bakers creek have been getting more to training than the saints.

It wouldn't surprise me, he trained with us before Xmas & was strutting around without his top on as if he was Nathan Buckley!

I spoke to a couple of Saints players who weren't impressed by him especially once they found he out he was getting money so you"ll find he has probably realised he isn't getting the players respect because of the way he handles himself so he is looking for some excuse to bail.
His antics have backfired & he has burnt his bridge with few clubs so he'll probably do a runner!
I don't know why blokes roll in to town & big note themselves, if your are any good we will hear about you from somebody else!
