Carlton take Lachlan Rankin (oakleigh) 182cm med utility.
Best available here im surprised he is still on the board, was a late call up to afl academy in april and ended up named in the APS merit team. Has played mainly for caulfield grammar but was impressive in limited nab league games. I like his poise and ability to turn on a dime in traffic, is really clean by foot and decision making is very sound. He will need to bulk up but the base of a very good player is there..id say he will start as a half forward and he has very good ability to crumb the ball off a pack but in time i think he would make quite a good winger as he builds his engine.

With Hawthorn’s pick they select...

Glenelg/Sacred Heart defender

Cooper Beecken

Next CleverCount

I like the selection and he certainly has a lot of AFL attributes. I was a little concerned that like some of the kids he tapered off towards the end of the year a little but it is probably to be expected with Covid ect. Really balanced and long wing/mid defender that looks very smooth in everything he does. Slight concerns about how competitive he is because he looks very laconic but it could be just that (how he looks).

Pick 56: WestCoast pick: Gregory Clark

🙌
Just had to take Clark here! Have watched this guy for years as he’s a genuine gun and I’ve been shocked he hasn’t been picked up as a mature age since his draft year where he also was overlooked.
I think he fits WC player age demographic with a lot of our list at the end of their careers in the 30+ range and then a big drop off with a core of mid age players the rest all are young 20’s so Clark fits right in that slot where we will need big mature bodies in the future..
He deserves every chance he can get and I feel like he’ll slot into the AFL level with ease given the opportunity 🙌🦅🦅🦅

that’s us Eagles done! 👌

Just never seems to actually get picked up, has been good enough for a couple years, hopefully now is his chance.

Good pick..honestly id be very happy to see him get a chance as a late pick or rookie he does deserve a go.
