I love the stats, always have a good look at them..

While im sure you get some great data elsewhere.. Champion etc.. i just look at the AFL site after the game.

AFL Sucks for providing stats.

Inside 50s are rather meaningless nowdays... its more about time inside 50 with the way the press works. (not shown)

And Clangers dont seem to correlate into disposal efficiency? do clangers count as clangers or are they included in disposal efficiency?
Also, what constitutes a clanger?
Is it a mistake or bad skill? or a brain fart? whos to say? it is so ambiguous and subjective depending on the statistician.

ANd i demand more clarity around contested possessions too... id also like to see effective taps to teammates V ineffective..

Id like to see stats on ineffective tackles, Effective tackles and rewarded tackles (frees from tackles)

Contested marks seems to be a complete unknown as well.... What makes a effective contested mark... a chop of the arms will come up as a free kick... yet it is contested... but a player next to you who provides little contest is considered contest??

Mtrs gained are not included in there stats either.. which is odd.

Realy the AFL should have alot better data with the stats.

I'm sure the reason why the AFL only provide such a limited data set on their website is so that other outlets (a.k.a. the media, not sure if it's available to public consumers) have to pay CD to get all the meaningful stuff. I assume clubs get it for free.

Can anybody tell me if (and if so where) in depth stats like the following are available:

Meters Gained
Handball received
Hardball gets
Lose ball gets
Intercept Mark's
Pressure acts
Positional stats (I.e forward half tackles or Mark's inside 50)

AFL Stats Pro – http://www.afl.com.au/stats/stats-pro
I believe you need the Live Pass to access it, which is free with a Telstra account.

In terms of usually "hidden" stats it gives access to, there are figures for:
* Disposal/kick efficiency
* Centre/stoppage clearances
* Hitouts to advantage / hitout win %
* Ruck contests attended
* Marks inside 50 / on lead / contested / intercept
* Tackles inside 50
* Defensive half pressure acts (not sure why they don't have forward half too)
* Contested defence one-on-ones / losses
* Contest possession rate
* Ground ball gets / fwd 50 ground ball gets
* Goal assists
* Total shots at goal (includes misses / out on fulls)
* Score launches (wtf is this?)

And probably a couple more unique ones I've missed.

From 2018 AFL Prospectus (Champion Data): Score Launch: Scoring chains launched by an intercept possession, free kick, hitout-to-advantage or clearance.

If anyone can point me to an online source for Score Assists (as opposed to Goal Assists) i would be eternally grateful.
