2nds AFL Listed players eligible for SANFL finals

I reckon it's just the club focusing on next year by getting a game into Drew and also setting him up for some time off without SANFL finals in the way.

I reckon it just exposes how little the club rates the SANFL.

How little the club rates ITSELF, mate.

A game against freo means absolutely nothing for next year. Earlier break, yeah. Wohoo the next game he plays will be in 7-8 months. Better be prepared...

Drew should be playing his 20th game for the power this year, selecting him this week, of all weeks, in an escort cup match after screwing him over all year is a joke.
Hope he leaves for a better club at season end.

SANFL Finals Squad

AFL Players (18)

Boyd Woodcock
Cameron Hewett
Martin Frederick
Sam Mayes
Trent McKenzie
Kai Pudney
Aidyn Johnson
Peter Ladhams
Joe Atley
Todd Marshall
Sam Hayes
Joel Garner
Kane Farrell
Jack Trengove
Billy Frampton
Riley Grundy
Jarrod Lienert
Cameron Sutcliffe

P.S.: Tobin Cox may still qualify.

Now with Drew not qualified, it could be this for finals.

Possible finals side?
F: Hayes - Frampton - Cox
HF: Farrell - Marshall - Woodcock
C: Pudney - Atley - Mayes
HB: Frederick - Lienert - Elsworthy
B: Corcoran - McKenzie - Garner
R: Ladhams - Trengove - Sutcliffe
INT: Hewett - Davidson - Appleton
EMERG: Johnson - Grundy

Have the SANFL actually made an exception for Tobin Cox? He didn't manage to fulfill the requirements for games in August.

And after his bunch of goals against Centrals, it wouldn't surprise me to see themnot giving him an exemption.

You know, you have a conversation with Davies, and you have a conversation with Thomas, over the years, about the sanfl rules, and both will say or hint or express that the rules are not great … but publicly they endorse them. What timidness lives in our club.

I actually know Darren Beer (our old reserves coach and assistant coach) said when the 17 player cap was rolled out he claimed the coaching staff were over the moon, it meant they could play a much more balanced side. How ever this was in 2017 and our SANFL list was awesome and he even said "the SANFL aren't the brightest, half of our SANFL list are better than our AFL list"

On the sanfl webstie Drew is listed in the qualified. That's great. I hope it is not an sanfl error.

Well, to be honest, the sanfl are more worried about guys with afl experience then a guy that has not played any afl games ever and spent time injured. So it isn't a hard one for them on Cox.

Trent McKenzie (Port) who played AFL in Round 23 will be able to play in the Qualifying Final.

A tally of 20 AFL-listed players have qualified for Port Adelaide, including key forward Todd Marshall and backman Jarrod Lienert.

SANFL rules permit the Crows and Magpies to have no more than 17 AFL-listed players play in a final.

Development players such as Tom Corcoran (Port) must have played at least one Statewide Super League game in the minor round to line-up in a SANFL final.

FF Sam Hayes......... Billy Frampton..... Tobin Cox
HF Boyd Woodcock.. Todd Marshall...... Kane Farrell
CE Sam Davidson... Joe Atley............ Kai Pudney
HB Joel Garner....... Trent McKenzie..... Sam Mayes
FB Marty Frederick... Jarrod Lienert...... Riley Grundy

RK Peter Ladhams... Willem Drew....... Jack Trengove

INT Tom Corcoran... Cam Sutcliffe..... Matthew Appleton

Out
Cameron Hewett
Aidyn Johnson ...... suspended by the SANFL MRP

I'm not sure if Sutcliffe is part of the 17 or part of the 4. If Part of the 17 I would cut him, but Lokan wont. The next Magpie I would play would be either Mead or Edwards depending on what match needs we have.

Its a Good side.

.....
So in the minor round we have to play all of our AFL listed players unless the are injured but in the finals we can only play a maximum of 17?

Typical SNAFL.

Jack Elsworthy has hardly set a foot wrong all year?

Don't we have a thread on that already?

If you looked up faux tough campaigner in the dictionary pretty certain there's a photo of Fogarty

I reckon we are better placed in 2019 than 2017 to win the flag. I think the spread of experience is better, and our younger players are better than the young players of 2017.

Using the format the club put out when it name the 23 for the 2017 GF, I have done a similar calculation for players likely to play ie 20 AFL listed + 4 SANFL contracted that played last night. SANFL games are from the SANFL's website and include last night's game.

738271

Our 2014 GF 23 squad named. IIRC Bruggemann and Slattery didn't play. I know Slattery didn't because I sat near him. Year drafted or age next to player
F: J. Butcher(2009), Harvey (2013), Ah Chee (2011)
HF: Flynn (Irish), A. Young (2010), Byrne-Jones (2013)
C: Paul Stewart 77 games 26yrs (2008), Summerton 26 yrs, Hitchcock (2010)
HB: Amon (2013), Stevenson (2007) 24yrs, Heath (2008) 23yrs
B: Russell (2013), Clurey (2012), Krakouer (2007) 26 yrs

R: Mason Shaw (2012), S.Gray (21), Tom Logan 117 games 28yrs
INT: Newton (2010), Impey (2013), Mitchell (2012), These 2 did not play Bruggemann, Slattery

So it's true Sauce gave the SANFL team the stiff arm?

Oh boy.

When their only other ruckman Strachan was under a cloud with a concussion and ended up not playing.
