Not so sure it's an issue. I think the players are entitled to a small number of tkts for freinds and family, but up to them what they do with the tkts.
Both teams would have players in their 22 for the GF on minimum wage of around $150k. Not paupers but not silly rich either. If the highest paid players did it I'd raise an eyebrow but I suspect it would be the lowest paid if anyone.

Part of the CBA is that all players get tickets.

It's also quite likely they're selling them 'back' to the AFL. (after all, their allocations are for upto 130,000...)
Possibly.

Quite risky for a player to be re-selling a ticket; it is a declared event (i.e. illegal) after all

Would not be something you want a name/career attached to

Several players/teams would be on holiday, and it would be unreasonable to expect them to fly back...Hell, it's quite a trip for non Vic players generally just to watch a game...even Vic players might prefer to spend the day elsewhere... so even those on higher wages could still be 'relinquishing their tickets' and being compensated for it, and I wouldn't blame them in the slightest. Far better than leaving the seats empty.

No issue with them selling their tickets, just do it at the same price of the ticket. Didn't a couple of Essendon rookies get in trouble for trying to mark up their tickets a few years ago?

I was thinking it was only the competing teams entitled. But I have read your previous post now and stand corrected.

The minimum AFL wage is $150k? Higher than I would've guessed.

The players are selling them back to the AFL?

Mate, no chance, in every year that Hawthorn played a GF between 2012-2017 I was able to buy tickets fro friends from AFL players if I wanted to part with $500-800.

SEN were told today there was a Club Captain selling his tickets for $2K each. They wouldn't name him.

It's a complete rort and has been going on for years.

Isn't it against the law to be selling them for such a big mark up? Why don't SEN just name the player and let the AFL deal with it.

You may be right as I think it through. I thought that was the rookie AFL contract figure but not sure. As I That may be just the the figure at which rental assistance stops for our list and the Swans

Yes, it is, but if you've not seen your club ever win a flag and desperately want tickets you pay the money and take them.

SEN would not want to light that fire. They said they would investigate and ask the question of that player and club off-air.
