Not so sure it's an issue. I think the players are entitled to a small number of tkts for freinds and family, but up to them what they do with the tkts.
Both teams would have players in their 22 for the GF on minimum wage of around $150k. Not paupers but not silly rich either. If the highest paid players did it I'd raise an eyebrow but I suspect it would be the lowest paid if anyone.
Tickers are non transferable, why can the players get away with it but not the fans?

The only clubs who should be offered GF tickets are the two that play in it.

Absolutely rediclous that each club gets 1k tickets.
Used to be 1k per club a few years back but it has slowly reduced, I believe about 700 per club now. Most clubs use a couple of hundred internally, staff, sponsors and so on, but most of them are sold off as those expensive packages for $2k.

Correct, don't forget non-competing clubs packaging up their allocation with shit meals and 4th rate entertainment and selling them for a fortune. iirc, it's North's biggest fund raiser of the year, or at least it was.
Fourth rate entertainment?

Pretty sure Dave Hughes has done one before.

There is no way you can consider him 4th rate.

The turd I dropped half an hour ago I'd rate above him & trust me I'd like to drop a steaming hot mockingbird above him.

If they can track who is doing it and have a problem with it they can make sure those players don't get tickets in future years. As I imagine most of them would keep a few for family and friends having all of their tickets pulled is likely to go down with family like a lead balloon.

If its just a moral judgement we can be disappointed but just have to live with it. Surely this is not the first year this has happened.

Every AFL listed player gets two tickets to the grand final, even those who don't want to spend $300+ on flights to Melbourne and the same again on accommodation.

It is such a cheap way for the AFL to give the players something.

Minimum pay for a player with two years experience is $100,000. 386 of the 718 players in 2016 earned under $300,001 (53.76%)

For more detail:
9.75% earned between $60,000 and $100,000
25.76% earned between $100,001 and $200,000
18.25% earned between $200,001 and $300,000
20.61% earned between $300,001 and $400,000 and this is where the average pay sits...

You can see that there is not as many big earners as made out in the media throwing around $750,000 a year deals which if you were interested the bracket for $700,001 to $800,000 has 2.5% of the players in it... One per club

Pathetic, earning top dollar from the game and profiting on those who provide that earning for them, for those of you AFL players who are doing it shame on you.

Reported on SEN today.
A number of high profile players are selling their GF tickets for 2k plus. Pretty disappointing.
About what I paid for a pair from a Saints player in '15 who will remain nameless, although the prick made a killing as he had a few pair on offer.

Great seats, front row on the 50 line... Shame about the shitshow that followed....

One naive affable young fella attended a Grand Final last year and when he told teammates people said 'why do you want to go to the Grand Final?' He was still a footy fan basically.
They showed Josh Jenkins on 360 last night (or the repeat from the night before) standing up and getting into last years GF from a boundary line seat.
