I agree With most of what you say.
But the vast majority of players are on over 100k, earning well above the average wage in this country. The players get paid pretty well.

Ask most people from 18-25 how easy they find it getting a shit kicking job, a fair few will say it isn't. Really.
Most people are studying at uni, doing an apprenticeship for pittance, working in retail or behind a bar...
Give most people a grand a week to get up at 7am, have diets mapped out for them, use weights, and feel good from running around and releasing endorphins, and I reckon most people are going to take it. Not to mention the free shit, most players either get free food or they all pool their money to get large amounts of chef-cooked stuff, the fact any previously AFL listed player gets free tertiary education, the rare advantage 'Footballer – Gold Coast Suns, 2013-2014' has on your resume... the stories... the memory... the girls... yeah nah I don't feel sorry for them.
