AFL players are coming together to pick a top 50. They have a pretty good idea. According to the site, there are 15 players making their debut in the list. Two of them made the top 20 (without knowing, I'm guessing Tom J. Lynch and Patrick Cripps)

A poor year for the Tex by his standards, I think he should have fallen a bit, maybe outside the fifty.

That is a bit harsh. He scored less goals last year (but still 47), but he played further away from the goal as the Crows had other goal kickers. His number were still top 50 level:
  • #2 Goal Assists
  • #5 in Marks
  • #9 in Contested Marks
  • #10 in Goals
  • #14 in Marks inside 50

It was a bit harsh but personally, I'd have him a little bit out of the count.
Yeah Treloar had more of an impact last year than Sidebum and somehow is still below him. Weird. Pendles=Treloar>>>rest of the Pies midfield.
Yeah Sideass can be a very reliable player in big games where he tends to play best, but he's a little hot and cold for me and he does make a few rookie errors along the way which prevents him from being elite. Wouldn't be too far away from the fifty but just outside for me.

i think gray, parker and sam mitchell should all be top 10 players. but i guess you're splitting hairs when you get those guys.

boak and watson are overrated here

think shuey and treloar are underrated here

Very good list mate ... But I will be very, very surprised if this guy isn't in the Top 10 ... wait & see :thumbsu:

And this guy surely must be Top 20 .. personally I'd have him in the top 10 ... he's that good
... IMO, he'll overtake Franklin this year as the best forward in the comp

Shuey and Treloar underrated.

I suspect players like Gaff & Priddis will be slightly overrated in the players top 50.
both those guys are high production players. IMO Gaff probably has become more damagingover the last couple of years and his improvement in his contested ball over the last two years is pushing him towards elite. I'll agree on priddis tho.

shuey is gun and a high impact player but if he can improve his production to Gaff or Priddis sort, then he would be as good as any in the top 10.

How the hell do Hurley and Watson just walk back into the top 50 after not playing for 12 months? Watson was cooked 2 years ago and Hurley who whilst is probably top 50 when he's playing good, consistent footy, hasn't been sighted since the back end of 2015. Plenty of other players who will miss out on the top 50 that won't get in. Another classic case of Essendon players being severely overrated by the media.
Yeah, the guy who was an All-Australian caliber player when he was last on the field probably forgot how to play football over the last 12 months. Why aren't you sooking about Dayne Beams' inclusion considering he played just 7 quarters of football last year?

Also, you know this was voted on by the players?

A key forward who was 10th on the goal kicker list is actually lucky to be on the list at all. Also, after Boak's last 2 years I'm not sure he deserves to be in the top 150 to be perfectly honest.

Except this was voted on by the PLAYERS, nothing to do with the media

Jordy Lewis is not top 50. Given they have paid no attention to players out of the game... At Hawthorn i'd have before him in no order well behind:
- Rough
- Cyril
- Mitchell
- Jags
- Gunston
- Smith
...

That's easily out of our mob alone...

Even at Melbourne... Jones, Viney, Gawn, Vince, MacDonald and Hogan...

don't think jobe should be in the top 50 isn't the same player. also treloar's is to low top 30 player
Some interesting ratings there.

Sidebottom, Lewis, Watson, Boak and Walker all outside top 50 IMO.

Be interesting to compare this list to some journos at end of season and see how it pans out.
Watson far too high. For all his career he has, what, one legitimate AA? He's just kind of average. Nowhere near top 50.

Watson is a star, anyone doubting that has no clue.
