Agree with most that Essendon are well overs - they are in better form anyway but also have the recent edge over Carlton. $20 on Ess @ $2.02

Also think Hawthorn should be shorter than they are. Yeah they're coming off a loss but they were due, and Sydney have been pitiful the last couple of weeks. $20 on $1.76

And perhaps I'm absolutely mental - or have just lost the plot - but I like the Lions this week to win. I reckon the Eagles have put the cue in the rack - they just don't get pumped in derbies like that - whilst the Lions might have turned a bit of a corner with a pretty good second half last week and will set themselves I reckon. $20 on Brisbane @ $2.3333

with Fev gone it should be an even easier win for WCE.

Yes and no. Fev has been a liability on the field, bringing in someone who can actually chase and tackle should help Brisbane. Its not like they will be missing his goal kicking either, he has done nothing lately.

Probably not a bad bet, its basically taking WCE over Brisbane and hoping they make up 3% over the rest of the season, and the bonus WCE might beat NM at home in a few rounds.

On the other hand, Brisbane play 2 more games at home against Adelaide and Sydney, (plus the ever unpredictable Essendon in melb).

Interestingly, after the first Derby this year.

Fremantle came out and beat Brisbane at the Gabba (first team to beat the Lions up there this year - West Coast, Carlton and the Western Bulldogs had all failed)

While West Coast came out and beat Hawthorn.

Given all that - and the Wooden Spoon thing - I would say West Coast are a very good H2H bet this week, and should probably beat the line.

They're one of the few current clubs to have never won a Wooden Spoon (Adelaide & Port Adelaide are the others).

I always wait for the team lists however bets I would suggest this week:

Port +20.5 (should be $2.50ish)
Freo (should win, $1.70 is good odds)
WCE (should win, fev out won't help lions)
Melb (better then richmond....)

Don't touch Adel/Wbd or Syd/Hawk imo. Don't bet on Carlton, we are terrible agaisnt Essendon.

Geelong v Collingwood should be a ripper game but I'm not touching that either.

No one is scoring against the Pies and even with the Cats flying last time they met the total was only around 130....

Night game in early August.... most likely slippery after half time....
