That being said, it's hard to get a handle on how the byes have been affecting teams early in the season.

I am sure that after mid-season the byes will be welcomed and will definitely freshen up the teams, but up until then, the stats don't show it as generally a good thing.

I think Geelong is big overs, they seem to be playing with something to prove, but I won't be having a bet as yet, I have Collingwood as LTS from before the season, so there is a hedge option.

My early early thoughts on Round 8

Big value with geelong, Saints. Nice value with Freo. Geelong/Collingwood is a stay out game for me, but I don't think they should be that far apart in the market.
