It goes for as long as the ANZAC Day contract.

God didnt have a problem last year with itGod really doesn't think much of Opening Round, if the events of this weekend are anything to go by...
Couldn’t find any of the Saturday games on my tv.
I realise 2 games got cancelled, but this whole concept is such a pissy start to the year.
That’s it, isn’t it?
This entire stupid concept was to “flood the northern markets while the NRL was out of town”.
Well, instead, the NRL played last week and are still playing this week while we have an empty Saturday schedule.
Masterful.
If you said we have to flood the northern markets for round 1 (which I personally don't think we need too. )
Play those games First, even a Wednesday night, Thursday and Friday double header then other 5 games Saturday Sunday - everyone plays and no stupid early byes and we can watch the footy.
I’m baffled how nearly every person in the world ( maybe a little bit if sauce on it ) is on the same page, except for the idiot who does the fixturing! If you said we have to flood the northern markets for round 1 (which I personally don't think we need too. )

Honestly, I heard an idea from Voss that solves the entire problem.
Home games for Freo, WC, Ade, Port, Bris, GC, Syd and GWS.
Give Victoria a single big marquee game at the MCG.
Literally everyone wins. It’s not that hard.
It’s not hard at all , if you’ve got an iota of common sense and give a sh*t about the SupportersHonestly, I heard an idea from Voss that solves the entire problem.

Backfired massively after that cyclone in Queensland.![]()

Sounds like a load of pretentious clap trap/garbage to me.
For the record, I don't mind if Carlton and Richmond don't kick off the season officially in round round 1 or if we have to the play the Brisbane Lions in round one, the whole concept of this NSW and QLD led Round Zero round one concept is cheap and unnecessary US Sports commercialised crap that our game can do without
I guess it works but at the same time....why do we need to do it? The round was made purely to go against the NRL while they aren't in town. Play the northern sides at home in prime time slots and everyone else goes on with business as usual.Honestly, I heard an idea from Voss that solves the entire problem.

That’s not badI don’t know why Michael Voss’ call isn’t getting more traction.
We have 9 games a round, 10 Victorian teams. The AFL get their Carlton/Richmond opening at the MCG (two Vic teams). That leaves 8 Vic sides for 8 interstate games
Could even have a pseudo “State of Origin” or Vics vs the rest, style opening round and keep score of the games won in an unofficial competition, which would create far more hype than what we currently have. Vic Bias clearly exists so why not buy into that a little and create a bit of a rivalry.
Somewhat logical and everybody would be happy.I don’t know why Michael Voss’ call isn’t getting more traction.

Which then leads to journos in Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne talking about the local games and ignoring the games in the Northern states.Honestly, I heard an idea from Voss that solves the entire problem.
