Why can’t these morons just schedule every team to play in this ****ing round? Have a NSW/SA one year then QLD/WA next year rotation.

I think everyone (including the media) is missing one very important point here.

Apart from having a round in Brisbane and Sydney as a promotion, it solves another problem - Anzac Day is a Thursday next year, Anzac Eve is a wednesday.

Expect the byes will be around that time. Essendon to play on the Thursday night the round before Anzac Day.

Just call it Round 1 and split the round so everyone wins. Calling it Round zero and then making up for it a few weeks later is just insanely unnecessary - and really quite stupid, tbh.

We already have the mostly corrupt and morally bankrupt fixture in all of professional sport as it is.

I genuinely believe the only way to fix it is privatisation of the teams but we all know that’s never happening

Opening Round was a success for those northern clubs that hosted sellouts.

Interesting that Pies and Blues don’t want to participate next season. You could replace them easily.

Somehow the AFL have diluted interest.in opening round with a confusing concept where half the comp starts the season playing a mythical round zero with byes kicking in from round 2
