I am completely astonished at why the AFL doesn't insist Telstra use technology that supports anything broader than the Microsoft the cartel. I'm not sure if other users have experienced it, but the new AFL and club sites don't display information unless you're running a Windows based browser which immediately eliminates the experience of approximately 10% of home users. Not only this, there are massive indications that both the Mac and Linux platforms are growing at alarming rates.

Now Telstra obviously has some agreement with Microsoft going on to only use it's media technology - it's been doing this for very long time. But surely it's upto the AFL to insist that all it's fans can access the content properly.

Even with microsoft my page wont display properly.
The advice I recieved from the Big Pond Technical crew so I could view everything left me dumbfounded, "just turn off your security settings whilst on the site".

more like don't use MACs

lmao

use a mac = expect less compatibility.

Without wanting to start a flame war on Macs v PCs, there are web standards and they are plenty of cross platform media solutions and these are flagrantly being sidestepped by Telstra to the cost of the AFL. The AFL has the power to insist this is fixed and should. Are you telling me you don't agree with this?

They should be using crossplatform Web standards , not Microsoft web standards.

The AFL and Telstra subscribe to the same economic model. If there is more money to be made via signing tighter restrictions which may limit consumer choice, then go for it. Money rules.

Wouldnt suprise me if Telstra have some deal signed with Microsoft.

You seemed surprised, your talking about Telstra here..... ;)

Also Firefox doesn't seem to work too well, especially on the video site.
I expect that not a single decision maker at the AFL has ever considered that the web can work differently on different computers.

My surprise is not at Telstra, they've always been Microsoft's poodles and **** in nearly everything they touch; it's more the AFL that's disappointing. They have the power to change the landscape, but they refuse either through ignorance or incompetence.

i have a mac and a windows based computer which also runs linux and i cant for the life of me get it to work at all. pretty sure its not a computer based thing, i guessing its about selling our souls to telstra. something which i have no desire to do.

Seems to work fine on my iMAC 0S 10.4.7, Firefox 2.0.0.2 and Macromedia Flash Player 8.

Your kidding right. It still works crap on Microsoft. Telstra is a pretend telco company. Living in the USA, I realize that Telstra is a national disgrace. I would expect the same techological standards from a telco company in Fiji.
