From Friday, a new security feature will operate at the Gate 2 turnstiles. Yep with so many corporates and freebies, it makes it worthless
They could still do it for us plebs. Photo only appears if a non transferable ticket.

Costco have this to stop people spending money...... surely the AFL Members can implement this too
Maybe corps have to enter through gate 6 and the AFL members just enter through gate 7. There are less of us than them, and they could fix those gates to stop the pesky AFL members from thieving cash from the AFL
Don't worry, they're letting the general public into the MCC now too it seems. It's not just the AFL Reserve where standards have slid.
They absolutely could do this but I doubt they will want to, the amount of membership sharing and on selling of tickets is massive, the AFL would rather stick their heads in the sand
I can't escape the riff-raff whichever membership I use!
But if you go on to the Ticketek website and look for public tickets this area doesn't come up as an option. I doubt they have sold every seat in that area. So don't expect a full house.
That's because they are shortsighted. They could potentially have more members in each category for more revenue if this didn't happen.
MCC has 155000 members of which 62700 are full members and they can offer walk up on Grand Final day with 23000 seats. Full plus restriced is over 100000 and only a few hundred were turned away from one of the Prelims (free walk up). That's a whole lot more revenue. Admittantly there are a lot of MCC members who don't really go to anything or maybe are interested in only footy or only cricket and AFL membership couldn't get such membership numbers, but it does show the benefits of people being less inclined to share or on sell tickets.
probably figured they’d make more money selling level 4 to indian fans instead of leaving it empty because no one otherwise would show up to a t20i
The wait list impact my absentee coming back on is only temporary and a once off thing. So I wouldn’t worry too much about it and would expect to list to move quicker again from next year
Or... they've hit 33000 and it will take 3 years to get back to 30000.
Could be. But still better than moving 100 a year.

I wonder what would happen if there is a Collingwood v Carlton GF when the Shane Warne stand is being rebuilt.. there is nothing stating that gold club support members are guaranteed GF seats right? Just top priority
Isn't it usually 13-23k for AFL? That would expand to cover both teams' gold allocation

What i meant was if they knock down the whole or part of the shane warne stand but still have the GF at the MCG it would be hard to 'squeeze in' pies and another vic team gold members somewhere else in the G

I thought this too. However, if I understand the latest T&C’s, you can only successfully apply for Absentee Membership once for the duration of your membership and only for one year.
The compulsion to remain a fully active member will result in far fewer people opting for Absentee Membership at any given time.

Hey Gang. I have just cancelled my AFL Membership so you won't be hearing from me anymore. I'll be moving into the "MCC Provisional Membership Waitlist Number" group if it exists.
I can't afford both a Provisional MCC membership and an AFL Silver Membership especially considering the path to Gold Membership is looking to take longer each year.

2011 - joined AFL Gold waitlist
Was just been offered provisional MCC membership and is 173 in the queue for AFL gold. So the gap is only a few years now
