Well if it's OK, I'd like to delist the following players. Most of them are delisted players in actuality and I would have delisted them had I been in control of Carlton earlier.

Andrew Eccles - $190000
Scott Freeborn - $190000
Adam Mathews - $60000
Mark McKenzie - $60000
Andrew Merrington - $170000
Sean O'Keeffe - $90000
Jim Plunkett - $220000
I'm not sure what happened to Michael Stinear and Tom Hedge and where they disappeared to, but they were Carlton rookies that were also delisted and were on the original list given on this thread.

That leaves me with six spots on my list. If possible I'd like to nominate six players from the pool of unselected players who were delisted by other clubs and not picked up via the National pre-season, or rookie drafts.

I'd also like to delist all my rookies, recently picked up and select some other rookies from the pool of players not selected in the recent rookie draft. How many rookies can I have? If they are worth $30,000 each, I can afford 3-4.

I'd also like to nominate Shane Wakelin and Corey McKernan as my two veterans.

So can you please take Sam of your list as he is contacted to the AFC or else the AFC legal team will be brought in to the fight the case.

Cheers AFC

Carlton Lions Press Release

January 7th 2004

The Carlton Lions apologises to the Adelaide Football Club for inadvertedly naming one of their players on their list.

We wish to announce that in place of Sam Pleming, rookie Daniel Elstone has been elevated to the senior list and Daniel Pratt has been added to the list of rookies.

The Carlton Lions submitted a list of players it intended to draft to the AFL and was given the go-ahead to do so.

Carlton Lions President Dyson Hore-Lacy, QC dismissed the threat of legal action by the Adelaide Football Club. It was an honest mistake he said, "made by new management in the rush to bring our list up to speed. The Carlton Lions went through the right protocols in carefully sifting through the mountains of paprerwork to check which players had been drafted, and rookie-listed, checking their final list with the AFL and upon being given the go-ahead were told to announce it to the AFL world."

Hore-Lacy went onto say that legal threats by the Adelaide Football Club were just "rhetoric" and that it was difficult to see upon what grounds they could launch a successful legal action. "Sam Pleming did not play a game with the Carlton Lions Football Club, nor did he train with us". The Carlton Lions president suggested that if Adelaide still had a problem with Sam Pleming's inadvertant naming, to take it up with the AFL.

The Carlton Lions Football Club also asks that any other club who has a query with the validity of one of the newly named players on their list to contact the AFL immediately instead of engaging in futile, public histrionics in threatening legal action.
