bullshit.

Essendon announced the investigation to try and see if they are clean. This does not mean Essendon are necessarily screwed.

We will see how the investigation pans out.
Not neccessary saying they're guilty, but that he rang up and was so adamant nothing was wrong and then this morning this news breaks. Just makes him look foolish.

Wonder if any premierships, personal awards are going to be stripped once teams and players are found to have cheated. We could have no premierships since 1990s!

I cannot see how an AFL game could be fixed.

In Soccer where the scores are normally 1-1 or thereabouts. Its easy to pay the goalie to make one error - match fixed. Or to pay the ref who awards a dodgy penalty which decides the game.

AFL games are generally never close enough for some single individual to affect the outcome. Fixers would have to get to 5 to 10 players in the team.

Soccer or cricket would be the main targets for match fixing. My bet is soccer where you have a lot of guys earning not a great deal of money who could be quite tempted.
I'm inclined to agree that it would be very difficult to fix an entire AFL match, that's why I'd like to see the government outlaw spot betting, first goal, that sort of thing. I literally cringe every time I see whoever is sponsoring the cricket outline the bets for under/over x runs in the first five overs. How can CA honestly say they have the best interests of the game when they allow bets like that to be offered after everything that has happened!!!!!

I would have thought that it would have been the best case Scenario, if ASADA rules are kept and i see no reason for them to waiver, regardles of it the players would go as well. Your Best Scenario is what you have written.
huh? The best case scenario is that the investigation we've requested shows we haven't been doping our players and we're clean...

Some people seriously need to understand the difference between investigations and results of investigations...

not really. Essendon requested an investigation. They have said they believe and hope they are clean.

According to healy, one of the side effects of these illicit substances is soft tissue injuries, which is what occurred to your list in unprecedented numbers.
What people forget is that Healy Is also a qualified Physio (i think he has a doctorate) butcould be wrong

So when he says things like that he does that from a position of Knowledge.

If Essendon was wrecked over this, the ENTIRE LEAGUE would bleed.

Christ, some of the weaker clubs would have legitimate reason to fear for their own survival if the things they were wishing upon Essendon came to pass.
does not mean they should escape punishment or be under punished if foul play is convicted

This thing just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Honestly it went from to an Essendon issue to a nationwide issue spreading all sporting codes

I think this is fantastic. Fully investigate the lot and get rid of the scum from our sports. I've always been for life bans for any player knowingly taking performance enhancing drugs, so let's get into them now. If it's one of my clubs (Swans or Manly, and the 2nd is seeming more likely than the 1st, due to their connection with a certain "scientist"), so be it.
Yep, if it is a culture as is alleged, cut the diseased limb off. Purge Australian sport.

They mentioned the "Anti-Ageing" clinic........... Dank seems to be a key player in all this.

Essendon are so f*cked.

But so are quite a few other players.....

By the way Vlad sounded, there's quite a few players that have been done for PED.

He said he though our testing was pretty comprehensive, and he was "shocked" by the number of players the crime commision uncovered.
Yeah i noticed the anti aging clinic thing, doesn't look good for the bombers in relation to that.

It's not always about winning though. You could fix the game by missing a set shot after putting a bet on for the opposition to win by a certain amount. It would be tough to do, but I'm sure it could happen.

It seems that we are all going to see players at our clubs identified as drug cheats. Perhaps this is the time for an end to cheap shots between supporters.
I feel for the kid's who follow AFL if respected players start getting busted. No-one likes their hero to be a cheat, and it's pretty out of left field unlike Lance Armstrong
