Have no great love for Essendon. However I take no pleasure in what is happening, as I feel for their genuine supporters, and I would hate it to be my team. Plus no point getting too judgemental about it, as you never know what may come out about my own and other clubs.

AFL needs a strong and vibrant Essendon.

Essendon requested an investigation when? Yesterday? I guess these people got that report out really quickly then, didn't they.
huh? It's not hard mate. In "the last 48 hours" Essendon, like I imagine all clubs, were made aware of the investigation announced today by the Crime Commission and, based on that "concerning fact" decided they needed to do everything within their powers to see if their club was involved...

It's not always about winning though. You could fix the game by missing a set shot after putting a bet on for the opposition to win by a certain amount. It would be tough to do, but I'm sure it could happen.
Pfft, what are the chances of that. Say you do a deal with a fixer to make sure your team wins by 30+. How likely is one player going to be in a position to influence that. Maybe in one game out of 50 if he is lucky. Fixers can´t make money on odds like that.

Soccer is piss easy to fix. One fumble by a keeper is all it takes. One dodgy penalty call. Been happening in Europe here for years.

Whole teams in on it? Those 50m penalty calls on interchange violations when there was a blade of grass in it is looking a hell of a lot more dodgy now.

You alluded that Essendon were responsible for this all happening by asking for an investigation. Which is rubbish.

Pharmicist Dank has been thru multiple NRL and AFL Clubs.

The game of musical chairs stopped while he was at Essendon.

Little did the Dream Team shonks know that the shortcut merchant they employed was in the crosshairs of the ACC.

I'm inclined to agree that it would be very difficult to fix an entire AFL match, that's why I'd like to see the government outlaw spot betting, first goal, that sort of thing. I literally cringe every time I see whoever is sponsoring the cricket outline the bets for under/over x runs in the first five overs. How can CA honestly say they have the best interests of the game when they allow bets like that to be offered after everything that has happened!!!!!
I can't see that they'd be targetting AFL really. Its so under the microscope all the time it would be difficult.
Soccer is so much more under the radar, and you can bet just as much.

Agree regarding spot betting though, the bookies are making a mistake with some of this crap.
Betting on who will be a coach? FFS someone may well know.

If someone is stupid enough to bet on what I'm going to eat for lunch am I then legally bound to confidentiality?

They alluded to a sports scientist that wasn't officially qualified that worked with several clubs and had financially gained from organised crime by endorsing peptides and administering them,

Surely dank!

Well until another club is named as in the spotlight, Essendon are what it's about, but that's likely to change.

Could be everyone bar Richmond is implicated, in which Richmond will finally play finals (against themselves) and win a premiership (after several draws and subsequent replays)
