Fairfax Media has been told Sharks players were given Thymosin Beta 4 and CJC-1295 peptides during the 2011 season.
It is understood the products were not on the World Anti-Doping Agency's banned list at the time but both were included in the Australian Crime Commission report into doping and match fixing under the heading "Performance and Image Enhancing Substances".

Just farkin LOL.
ACC are totally friggin morons.
Hang the muth afrkas.

No you just cheer and idolise them.

But your blokes are allowed another chance but Dank isn't/wasn't?
Giving people a second chance to play Football doesn't carry the same implications that employing someone like Dank has.

Deflect all you want, I've just established you're just a slightly more intelligent version of pazza.

Not sure if I should pity or keep on mocking you.

Suppose I wanted a can of Pepsi Cola.

I arrange to meet a guy up a side alley in springvale. I turn up in a hoody, sculk around and make the deal. Quickly shoving my Pepsi can under the hoody. Before sculking off.

Would it seem normal to most people that I would take such action to get a can of soft drink.
Should I be surprised if people think I'm up to no good.

Now how about Essendon and those vitamins.

The AFL will not delist players, that talk is stupid.

If rules were broken, it was against the players knowledge and understanding, even after some asked for assurances everything was kosher.

The AFLPA is livid, and will not want the players to be wearing the bulk of the price for anything that happens.

Automatic suspensions (if it comes to that) are unavoidable. AFL sanctions however are avoidable, and the AFLPA will unite and go to war IMO to protect the players from delisting (if someone was dumb enough to push for it).
Against the players/riders/persons knowledge is the stock standard response - again even if the players were doping on the Lance Armstrong scale the only response is - "we did not know"

However it is possible that IF players were to be suspended (under the ASADA code) that some players may be reluctant to return to Essendon after what they could consider a complete breach of trust and possibly an actual breach of contract.

Therefore it could be open to the AFL (with the support of the AFLPA) to allow banned players to declare their contracts null and void and make themselves available as free agents and/or draft eligible.

An option unlikely to be taken up by a player, under contract, ranked say 30 on their list, but a possibility for a guy who would have many suitors.

A big question will be if players miss a year of footy how many will want to come back to Essendon given they would probably be taking legal action against the club.
Joe Daniher should have picked Sydney and Goodard stayed at the Saints - hind sight is a wonderful thing.

From the AFLPA's perspective and probably later a legal perspective, James Hird and Dr Reid apparently signed the waivers/consents that what the players were taking was fine.

If players are rubbed out, where does that leave these two in future action by the players for loss of earnings , reputation etc ?

Doc Reid's testimonies to ASADA/ACC/AFL will have been and will be interesting.

And Asada will punish them if it comes to that (I believe I said that).

The evidence so far though is indicating players went out of their way to make sure they were not breaking the rules. Unlike Asada, the AFL has flexibility in the sanctions it uses, which is why I can't see delisting happening, not on top of an Asada suspension

I suspect your view is more driven by the hope of seeing for efc pain and getting some cheap talent to the kangas than any actual impartial assessment

if the investigation does in fact turn out to find Essendon players guilty of PED's, don't you believe the rest of the competition should feel a little pissed as they would then have every right to look back at previous meetings and suggest they played against a team who were playing above themselves and those 4 points may have been massive for certain clubs fighting for a spot in the 8 or top 4?
Not Melbourne :)

What I find fascinating is that the sponsors and prospective sponsors at Cronulla are in the newspapers but there has not been a single mention of Essendons (to my knowledge). Have the AFL put an embargo on this topic ?

I even wrote to Emma Quayle on this a couple of weeks ago and got no response which is unusual as she has never failed to respond previously.

let me get this straight: in a story about Cronulla you are surprised there's no mention of Essendon?

And further, you think the AFL have the power to "embargo" the media?

I am contrasting the media's approach to the 2 clubs. Putting the heat on Cronulla's and no comments from yours.

Yes I strongly believe the AFL can embargo the media - it is called accreditation. Without it you do not get access to the media centre at any game and the AFL can withdraw it at will.

To start with NRL teams have a lot more difficulty attracting sponsorships than AFL teams, both because of the lower coverage across Australia and the fact the sport generally only appeal to males (interesting to see the female focussed NRL ad campaign recently, they may actually be getting their shit together). So the sponsorships are lower value and walking away from them has far fewer repercussions in the public perception stakes.

AFL fans are much more engaged, both with their own team but also the game as a whole. Can you imagine Kia walking away from the Dons? No matter what the reason you may as well close 1/4 of their dealerships across the country. People would be shitty at the company walking away from a team in trouble - and not just Dons supporters. Not renewing would be seen as fine, but publicly threatening to pull the plug would be PR suicide, and the companies that sponsor AFL teams tend to be larger and more professional than their NRL counterparts.

So no, I doubt there's an embargo.

IIRC just because they weren't on the banned list doesn't make them ok. If they are not on the banned list or the approved list for that matter I believe you should seek clarification as to just where they sit. Was there a separate heading for unclassified material in the report?

There's actual evidence in regards to the Cronulla case?

I for one will continue to treat Essendon and it's supporter base the same way I always have, regardless of how this investigation turns out. With the utmost respect!

I hope this doesn't descend into a carltank or meltank Bay13 situation. I will be very disappointed if anyone refers to Essendon as Essendank.
