Different scenario but once again the consent/waiver forms does absolved the club or players if the substance is a banned substances. And pleading ignorance to said substances/injections will not be a valid defence to ASADA as they place the onus on the athletics and clubs to make sure all practises are above board.

Interesting and valid points. I wait with interest.

Who goes? Robson, Hird? Thompson?
The lot I guess, IF we are found guilty. Remember though Benny brought the game into dis-repute and his superiors....one of which is a pharmasist...who were informed by the previous coach about his suspicions of the 'goings on', pleaded innocence/ignorance and no resulting actions against him were taken. In light of the Armstrong saga, I guess we've been investigated at the worst possible time.

I'd be worried if I were you.

The AFL is doing all they can to channel attention towards Essendon. Whether you guys did anything wrong is a different issue to being in their gun. Your the scapegoat and I think they'll claim a scalp eventually.
I suspect that Lance would be pretty happy if there was nothing proven wrong WADA-wise, and the AFL gave them a whack with a disrepute charge as ASADA didn't have anything to prosecute for.

Much more attractive than the alternative.

One phrase keeps swimming around my head though, "Right on the edge" ...it's been said publicly, that would be enough to assume full knowledge in my eyes.

Agree totally. Reimers testimony is highly incriminating in my eyes.

Essendon employees were openly telling their players what the were doing was "borderline" and "right on the edge". If it now turns they had crossed that "edge" it doesn't look good at all.

Whatever happens many on this board should apologise to Reimers.

He was simply the messenger and he was shot repeatedly for nothing else but speaking the truth as he saw it without malice in his own way. Good on him.
I second that.. He got slammed from pillar to post.

Wowee. This is a horrible story for my club, the AFL and sport in general. The only thing worse has been the mass hysteria in the media, and on this board.

To my understanding, these are the only "facts" to hand at this stage:

- Essendon are being investigated for possible PED usage
- Whether or not the substances ingested/injected are legal or not, the players involved appear to have believed they were legal
- it is unclear how many staff within the club were aware of the content of these substances

Best case scenario for the club is that Dank went rogue, and in trying to build the players up, (or in trying to repair their bodies, and save his job after the injury crisis hit), deceived everyone at the club as to the content of the substances.

That scenario seems unlikely, and even if it eventuated, I have no idea what sanctions would be levelled at the players and club.

Realistically though, there have been no facts added to this debate since last Thursday.
Oh.....................is that all!

I thought it was something more serious like trying to systematically cheat!

McLachlan's media conference today. Any one of the articles written about it, or the news is about to start so they'll probably show it there.
Cheers. I read the press release and the story on the AFL website. In the press release he does not name Essendon, any club or player.

Cool.

But did he say that was in the report?

I know we're under investigation. I know that Gil said we were.

All I'm asking is someone to provide a quote from Gil where he said Essendon were under investigation BEFORE Thursday or that we were named in the report.

Nobody can.
You really are a worry. o_O

Hang on a minute... are we under investigation? What?

More grandstanding by the politicians and sports bodies to keep the pressure up and the news in the papers. Watch them reveal a little bit more info later this week to keep this thing bubbling along.

Nothing new to see today. Starting to go round in circles.

And of course he said that the multiple club second case he was refering to came from the report yeah?
The Justice Commissioner said on ABC this morning, that there were two clubs with multiple player doping. We then later learnt through the AFL that only two teams are being investigated in the AFL, one with multiple player doping, the other with a single player. When asked if the multiple team doping was Essendon, he said yes. Clearly the OTHER team accused of multiple team doping was from another code.

Reimers testimony is the least of our concerns. He didn't have a clue what was going on. Him saying what they were taking was "right on the edge" could easily mean he was told they were using cutting edge techniques. He wouldn't be able to confidently testify to anything.

All that is of concern is what substances Dank is being investigated over, if they are banned substances and if they were used at Essendon.

BREAKING: Stephen Dank, the sports scientist at the centre of the Essendon drug allegations, is suing various media outlets for $10mil defo
The word 'defo' means it's true.

EDIT - ha! I was taking the piss because I thought it was the bogan form of the word definitely, rather than a twitter enforced abbreviation of the word defamation.

Ill get my hat.
