The Clarko interview was very impressive spin to appease the masses who are rioting at the gates, but the spin if true or not was executed so well with such thought and precision I'm prouder than ever to be Hawk as the Club is smart and knows what it is doing.
At first I thought that the video meant we didn't have Jaeger because of the timing but on second thoughts I actually think we do have him because the video was assuring Jaeger that we got his back!

Not to be personal but to ask a genuine question on this point.

Why do you expect it's all a one-way street from player to club? We demand that in order to play for Hawthorn a player must accept less money and accept shorter contracts than that player could secure elsewhere. And you (along with many others) argue that when a player's time is up (either because he can't make the grade or is unwilling to make the sacrifice) that the club should then hold the player hostage to a "good" deal for the club, be damned what the deal means for the player?

We've built a phenomenal, winning culture where players are not selfish. Where they give 100% and never quit playing, even when they know they can't win the match. That so rarely hang their heads when a mistake is made, instead doubling their efforts and playing even harder.

All that is built on a cultural contract. Hawthorn has been living this contract for years and look at the dividends. And when it comes time to pay a little in the form of low draft picks you complain? How will champion players like Gunston who just re-upped on an unders contract behave if they feel the club won't deliver on its end if the bargain?

It just doesn't seem right to me that we think the club doesn't have a responsibility in this championship bargain.
Quoted this just to see it on screen again.

As bang on as it gets.

All for one and one for all...it's not just a bullshit song lyric, it's a real thing.

We can't offer them a place forever...only honesty...

That's it, I'm so pissed off at our utterly pathetic useless football club, its coaching staff, Clarko in particular, waste of space Graham Wright, for stabbing our champions in the back and selling out our once proud club for jack scheizen, I will not only start supporting GWS with GC as my backup team, I plan to violate and desecrate my 17 years of collected membership cards and scarves, and setup a tent embasy on Glenferrie oval where I will spend the rest of my life living in silent protest.

If this is sarcasm I still don't get where the punchlines are....

No doubt Clarko spoke very well.

One thing kept nagging me was that this piece of the jigsaw wasn't fitting perfectly with with what Graham Wright's was saying.

GW has said how unhappy he was to lose Lewis and would maybe have done things differently if he had his time again.

I have no issue with letting these players go but am miffed and the massive unders we accepted, particularly for Lewis.

After my initial anger/confusion over the Mitchell trade, I realised it wasn't just a "business decision". Sure we got something for him, but at the end of the day, knowing what I know of Clarko that he is a genuine bloke that cares for the players as human beings, he did it because he saw a golden opportunity for Mitchell for life after football.

Sure he could of let Mitchell retire then cross to WCE straight into coaching, but he was as usual looking at the bigger picture. It was said that it's best to experience at a different club with a different culture to help grow him as a future coach. But why limit the change to just the coaching side of things? Get that different perspective on the field as well.

Like you said, "All for one and one for all" is exactly how it is. It's amazing in this day and age where it's all about business that we still have people of the calibre of Clarkson bucking the trend and doing what's right for Mitchell just as Mitchell has done for Hawthorn all these years.

Can we still go to the National Draft, if we don't resolve this
Yes but he cant dictate terms like $$ and length of contract. So there isn't anything like that deterring Essendon, GWS, GC, Fremantle, Brisbane, Port or Carlton/Richmond (if they still have their picks after trades) from taking him except his health

..you could read between the lines.. may have offered a 2 year deal...(no way Hawks were going to give him 3 which I think is correct)..or negotiated better to get something better in return..?
