Not to be personal but to ask a genuine question on this point.

Why do you expect it's all a one-way street from player to club? We demand that in order to play for Hawthorn a player must accept less money and accept shorter contracts than that player could secure elsewhere. And you (along with many others) argue that when a player's time is up (either because he can't make the grade or is unwilling to make the sacrifice) that the club should then hold the player hostage to a "good" deal for the club, be damned what the deal means for the player?

We've built a phenomenal, winning culture where players are not selfish. Where they give 100% and never quit playing, even when they know they can't win the match. That so rarely hang their heads when a mistake is made, instead doubling their efforts and playing even harder.

All that is built on a cultural contract. Hawthorn has been living this contract for years and look at the dividends. And when it comes time to pay a little in the form of low draft picks you complain? How will champion players like Gunston who just re-upped on an unders contract behave if they feel the club won't deliver on its end if the bargain?

It just doesn't seem right to me that we think the club doesn't have a responsibility in this championship bargain.
Brilliant post.

I get what you were doing with your other posts on this topic, but their general demeanour came across as rants. This is spot on and deserves to be read again and again.

Well done the Gold Coast Cuns as Huddo would call them. All you are doing this trade period is ensure no other ****** will want to join you in the future.
Keep digging the heals in and keep being dicks. And when you lose Ablett next year and gain nobody under FA, think of the Judean People's Front and their crack suicide squad during this trade period. "That showed em". Rocket you deadset Richard Hadlee!

So why send them off this year for picks 234 and 312 when we could've had their services and THEN had the war chest and the compo picks.
although i disagree with the way of the departure! its pretty simple...

first the trades where done out of good faith so they could prolong there career not about currency,

secondly you cant retire 5 STARS ALL NEXT SEASON ..hodge burgoyne gibbo lewis mitchall.
we are getting 2 mids this yr so we trade the 2 mids out of that group.
next yr we will lose burgoyne hodge for nothing simple

Just watched the interview from Clarko. Boy to I feel proud to barrack for this amazing club. Class is everywhere on and off the field at HFC.

If anyone is still upset, think of this as just another example of HFC setting the standard. Geelong forced all of their legends out, Kelly, Johnson, Chapman and *Bartel. Geelong have still yet to even tell Bartel if he is required...

What the dickhead media don't get, and never will...as they continue to cream themselves silly over Geelong...

Just reported on Fox Footy Trade Show that we have offered pick 10 and pick 48 for Jaegar, which has been rejected.

According to Jake Niall, it's at a stalemate and mediation is becoming a real possibility as no player wants to go there.

Why is mediation presented as this big threat? It should have happened 3 days ago.

Well done GC you tossers.

Hawks don't have much else to offer, unless another club gets involved. And even. Then, we don't have much to give that club (player?).

If Suns got 6 from Richmond and 10 from Hawthorn, surely that would be enough for them to attract a gun from somewhere? Although they are running out of time...
