Lol can people please stop with the Jarman jerking. If he nominates us - great. But he isn't a very highly projected pick at all. Some even have him undrafted, a few nice scores at the combine help but cool the jets.
You're obviously very young.
Go and Youtube 'The magic of Darren Jarman' It starts with Dunstall describing him as the most talented player he"s ever seen then shows hundreds of examples of why.

Ok, so thats his Dad and not him- however as he's playing for his state as a junior I would presume the football DNA is there.

So at 2pm thursday we open the 2017 thread and start worrying if freo will match our free agency offer for fyfe? Cant wait...
Also discuss what picks in the 100s we will get for Hodge and Burgoyne.

The fact that Clarkson said he was hoping that Tom Mitchell would be able to learn from Sam Mitchell and Lewis just shows how badly they stuffed things up.
The question never asked in that sychophantic interview was why the hell were you prepared to trade the two best players of 2016 for bugger all?! It's one thing looking after champions, it's another thing to shaft the club.
When he tried to justify this farce by using the Josh Kennedy example, he totally lost any credibility.
The look on his face said it all. He stuffed up, and he was told to come out of hiding and face the music. Never seen him look so unsure of himself.
Couldn't agree less.
Thought the great man was emotional about those boys leaving the club, not unsure of himself.
Supporters on this board should take a hard look at themselves for the crap they've spoken about Clarko.

What article is that. It's a very good one.

bit of a hypothetical but we need to package up something to get slightly higher in the draft so we can get a player that we may have our eyes on as a late pick
If we land Mitchell, JOM, Vickery we wouldn't really need to hit the draft super hard.

GWS 51 and 55 should be the target, I don't GWS would need them with selections 2,15,31,37 before them.

Lol this....only takes one quarter of a gf to show what a Jarman could be capable of.

If we do take him in the national draft then our pick swap with the Saints will look pretty stupid. We'd be better trying to secure a second round pick and grabbing a young kid with pick 10. Works better for the rebuild. Slap a heavily front ended contact to O'Meara so no one else will complete.

If we give GC Pick 10 & 48 for JOM. We are left with picks 66, 70, 88, 90 & 108. How do we attack the draft with such a poor set of draft picks.
We don't. We just drafted O'Meara and T Mitchell. There's your two high picks.

No chance Wright and Clarko will take a chance and let him enter the draft. No way. None. Zilch. Worst case scenario Hawks will offer a senior player at the last minute (don't think it will get that far.)

This deal is done, just working out the side deal with picks and/or players. People need to chill out, JOM will be a Hawk by Thursday.

If this guys body holds up, holy shit watch out. Fckin beast. I'm all for the high risk high reward. Burgoyne says hi.

I would think it is almost certain we are going to the draft to get JOM.

I suspect we had earmarked pick 14 for JOM and next years first and maybe a second for Tom Mitchell however as soon as GCS rejected pick 14 we had a look at the draft order and saw St Kilda and North there at picks 10 and 11. We all expect Richmond will trade 6 for Prestia and you have to assume that Essendon and Carlton are not going to give up pick 1 and 5 for JOM.

My understanding is that the consensus for the draft is that it is very even after around pick 5 so there would have been a real risk of the Saints or North taking a punt on drafting JOM before we had the chance at 14. With the pick swap moving us above North and removing the Saints, we put ourselves as the first Victorian club in the draft after pick 5 putting us in the box seat for JOM - it has to be highly unlikely that a non-vic club will pick him up. This also explains why we have overpaid the Saints - we were effectively asking them to give up their ND leverage to our benefit.

With this in mind, I expect we have told GCS that it is pick 10 or nothing and they can either have an extra top-10 pick in the draft or nothing. They lose JOM either way.

It would be nice to take JOM in the PSD however the risk that Essendon, Carlton, Richmond, St Kilda or North manage to fit him in their cap is probably too great.

I actually the opposite - Hawthorn would prefer to secure JOM via trade, sans any doubt of losing him in the draft. We've obviously promised Jaeger our entire efforts to make him a Hawthorn player, it would be risky if we can't agree on a trade.

Conversely, it might actually come down to that!

If we hadn't already traded our first pick for next year I might suggest the tank was in....
Yeah, improving our list by going after two of the best young midfielders in the game and a much needed forward/ruck just screams out that we don't want to compete in 2017.

Even if we land JOM I still feel we have suffered this trade period. No pick before the 60's, no first rounder next year. We need young talent but feel we will just be selecting list cloggers. Our recruiting team have there work cut out for them
i'd be ok if we picked up willie rioli, young jarman and morabito in the draft. project players yes but worth the risk with the superior skill level.
