A collection of unrelated events or something else?

- Hawthorn re-signs all veterans mid year on "reduced money", yet it is strongly suggested that Mitchell's 2017 contract was not reduced at all when the WCE move was announced
- Mitchell now moving on
- Lewis rumoured to be moving on
- at B&F Hawthorn did something never done before, had 4 players on stage for Q&A. These players were Mitch, Silk, Lewy and Gibbo, (why was Hodgey not there). Was this a farewell/thank you session for the 4 guys?
- Question: are Silk and Gibbo next?
- Question: has Clarko just achieved a rebuild in one week, whilst bringing in A grade talent, maximising our cap to spend, and looking after all veterans in the process?

This would be a bold move, but potentially a brilliant one......

If anyone can, Clarko can.

What did Barrett say about the Vickery deal?
The basic facts: We looked after Richmond compo by calling a 3yr/1.2mil deal a 2yr/1mil deal. Our initial press release said 3 year deal but was quickly amended.

Whether anyone wants to openly admit it or otherwise, well played Hawks.:thumbsu:

Couple of clubs have their noses slightly out of joint regarding the 2 yr deal. Saying he will prob get 3 years and the price was inflated to benefit rich and haw.

Pretty thin stuff.
I'm sure that with a 1/3 of the coaches now being Clarko disciples that these types of comments will occur more and more often. it's common knowledge that Tigers and Hawks have worked closely together for years and we are also seeing it with Eagles and Hawks

Bushrangers, Kings,
Lewis got about 40 possessions against Geelong in the QF. Mitchell got about 30.
Getting rid of both of them because they are old for JOM and Tom is pure insanity.
In 2 or 3 years when Mitch and Lewis are sitting in the war room with Kingy, Tom and Jom will be coming into there prime.

Mitchell Lewis Hodge Burgoyne Gibson will all not be at our club within 2-3 years. Do you hang onto them and watch them all decline or try and move a couple of them while you can get something in return and at the same time and give them an opportunity to get a retirement fund for a few years at another club?

Tough calls to make on fan favorites but we need to be really smart right now.

If Lewis has to go for us to improve long term and get back to being a contender quickly, so be it.

His best is behind him and based on his form this year the cliff is not far away.

The same Jordan Lewis who was second in the B&F?

Only 13 votes behind Sammy.

Of our veterans, Lewis is the favourite whipping boy. Followed by Gibbo, Birchall and Hodge. It's a wonder this team of cooked geriatrics won a premiership 54 weeks ago.

100%

Mitch is the one that I'm still struggling with, he is a top 5 player of all time imo.

He's just reporting what he hears.

Didn't suggest anything, reported it in a balanced way and after a couple of minutes he moved on.

So sick of people sitting on tenterhooks for any morsel of news, then slamming the reporters aggressively if its not glowingly positive or good news.

Wallace and Barrett have been glowing in their praise of GW and the hawks
I'm more than happy for journos to criticize the club if warranted - I'm not that blinded by my support of the club.

This is exciting stuff.

Feel any movement of our older players may fall into a similar category to Mark Williams. End of the career, one last selfless act for the club you love, even if it means you have to leave.

Oh, ok. Just thought the Hawks had been using him a bit more for pressers etc so they rated him highly as a face.
He does seem to speak well, but I guess the inner sanctum knows who is really the leaders.
Hope its not Smith after already losing Hills run.

Its Lewis, in negotiations with Melbourne currently
I come back and some one else is mentioned, now our VC. The Poppy rumour has surfaced on the Scandals & Rumours board, with a OP claiming a good source says he is off to Brisbane. Presume a 3 way then gets us JOM. Exciting times.
