From the vault, a new Ablett snr video made by the AFL. Not bad although much of the highlights is nothing new. You could just watch this bloke for hours on end some of the stuff he could. The game was just so effortless for him :footy:

he was like a human engineered freak of nature with a bit of Judd, J. Brown and Stevie J all mixted into the one person creating Ablett.
I like one of his last goals ever against the eagles in 1996, does a scissors move and drops to the ground to shuffle the ball across then scoops it up and snaps the goal over McIntosh from 40 metres out:thumbsu:

Great wasn't he? Many amazing memories and it was great to be a Cats supporter and see him in flight.

If you search Youtube for "Gary Ablett Highlight Reel" there are 12 on there of about an hour total of speccies, goals and bumps.

Yeah ive watched all those. Fantastic. The most amazing player ive seen. Complete freak.

Watched them multiple times.

You just can't get sick of it. Ridiculous.

He took mark of the year in 1988 or 87 not sure but it was over a Richmond player and he literally jumped backwards and was sitting on top of the blokes shoulders. I have read that when he was a teenager playing for Drouin he took a mark that was similar to his 1994 Pert grab but got up higher and fell harder and it became legendary ever since. I have never seen another player who could jump sideways and get as much elevation and hangtime as he could in his early days. He blames opposition players constantly kicking his achilles heel over the years which eventually reduced his natural leaping ability but 'boy!' could he hang in the air in his prime.

That's it at about the 2min mark isn't?

Never before have I seen a player who could literally do it all and make it look so effortless. Used to love watching him play Richmond not sure what they ever did to the great man but he used to turn it on against them like no other side

I have said it before and I will say it again - most exciting footballer that I have ever seen.

Why is there not a real DVD on his highlights over 250 games - maybe Volumes 1 & 2 ?

He was that good.
