AFL - Where 25m is not 15m!

There are more marks paid for less than 15 than the other way around.
I've loved the crackdown on it.
although last night they reverted back to paying 8 metre marks.

Personalt prefernce obviously, but I would rather they err on not paying a mark at 20 metres than pay them at 10. And I think a lot of people have got used to marks being paid at 7-8 metres over many years.
Actually making fifteen something resembling fifteen has people complaining as much as missing the odd 20 and 25 metre one.

As DocSholl mentoned, there does seem to be something of a difference in measurement of the same distance between back 50 and forward 50 though.

Generally players need to kick it 25 metres in he back half and at least seven metres going inside 50

Yet the crackdown seems to have stopped with a 7m kick in defensive goal square paid a mark last week and lots of very short kicks paid in Sydney on Friday night.

Just make running and bouncing and marks both be 20m and judge them the same. Fix the mess.

Whatever the distance, that part is critial.

Its ridiculous that in the back 50 a mark is often 20m, in the front 50 its about 8m (and was all over tjhe field until this year), and a bounce is requitred every 20-25m when the rules is 15m for all three.
Chnaging it to 20m and nothing else would just result in 10m forward 50 marks, 25m defensive line play-ons, and bounces barely neeed within 40m.
I know its not easy to judge with the pace of the game and watching other things, perhaps the bounce moreso than the others, and there will be discrepancies of a few metres; but surely can be more consistent than it is.

I hope we don't need more field markings, but maybe worth a pre-season (or other out of competition) trial if nothing else works.
