I'm sure this will help ensure nothing gets swept under the rug or stage-managed.
Or reading between the lines it means that the AFL has more time to destroy all the evidence and come up with an alternate story before the media finds out and talk to those involved so that they tow the AFL line.

The day the AFL don't cover something up will be the same time they give a fair and equitable draw to all 18 clubs with the same opportunities to maximise marketing revenue.

fair and equitable draw is not possible. you cannot confect a draw where everyone is injury free, on the same terms, plays eachother away and then at home, under the same weather conditions, if Barry Hall snots Brent Staker out at Sydney and gets 5 weeks but Staker cannot play the remaining game so it is 21 v 22 on WC v Sydney, but Barry gets his 5 weeks against other teams,....

the fixture cannot be what fans want. They dont unnerstan, to win in September, you still need to go thru the best teams, and beat the best, to win the flag. If you are not good enough to get thru to the third week in September, you may best put in one of the big Windy Hill pre-seasons for next year.

Injuries have nothing to do with a fair draw and if you think it does then you really need to ask yourself what are you talking about. The draw for 2016 will be released this year, so it has nothing to do with anything on field. Just look at the fact Carlton had 7 Friday night games, Dogs none. It is about all the clubs getting the same prime time tv exposure in the main Friday night slot, something that doesn't happen. A fair draw is about giving every club an even footing to market themselves to sponsor and potential members as everyone else. This doesn't happen which is why the AFL have a massive problem with having to prop up financially struggling clubs.

or maybe the AFL are leveraging the power clubs and redistributing money, unlike say, the EPL and the Champions LEague.

All professional sports leagues will have power teams, in America they are built around historical economic centres. North is unfortunate, they pioneered the Friday Night slot, and now the AFL have used that as a key marketing opportunity. If the West in Melbourne booms and there is urban spread to Bacchus Marsh Footscray could reap the benefit of some of this growth, tho the culture around the support of teams has long left the topical/local geography, it will be interesting to see how effective the bulldogs strategy is with grassroots.

Why would you report crimes to the AFL to begin with. Surely the Police is who you report it to

To be fair to Cylon, I'm not sure what to fully make of VicPol's role in this Essendon matter. Ex VicPol Commissioner Ken Lay is now Essendon's No 1 Ticketholder (he took the job straight after leaving VicPol)....... which now means that does not exclude the public from asking whether VicPol was a help or hindrance in this investigation.

This from 2010 is worth a read: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/police-give-secret-player-files-to-afl-20100806-11oh8.html

Given the original ACC report referred to Importation of drugs (PEDs or otherwise), I'd love to get the AFP's views on it....

The AFL certainly like the word integrity.
Integrity office, integrity managers, integrity staff etc etc
Its pity though they don't even know the meaning of the word even if it was to bite them on the backside.
As Sir Humphrey Appleby said, always put the difficult bit in the title. It does less harm there than anywhere else.

Wouldn't the AFLPA the place a player went to raise this type of thing??
like the players unions in the NAmerican professional sports leagues. They are the organisations who seek to suppress all criminal and nefarious action.

doping? what is that?

look, see that wombat crossing the road!

lol, but what about when they defend the interests of one team, above 660 other players? you find yourself in a conflict eh?
That still fits the parameters - defend the interests of a select 34 players and maintain complete independance from the other 660 players! ;)

yeah, but you could easily make the case that they were taking a position against the other 660 players...

but the only person on a list who came out against Windy Hill was Ryan OKeefe... no prizes for working out why no one came out protesting the institutional doping program...
