we've got melbourne in a royal blue strip with white shorts vs. north in the home strip with blue shorts. who authorised this?

Expecting to see this crap in the men's season as well....

I'm guessing it's because Melbourne don't have royal blue shorts made? They normally only wear royal blue in away games.

Surely Navy shorts wouldn't have hurt.

we saw several indigenous round planning *ups last season, like Essendon wearing an all red design with white shorts even though it was their home game, and Melbourne not being able to wear theirs against the dogs. total repeat of that in the women's now with Melbourne somehow designing the only indigenous jumper that could clash with North's one, a riff on their away jumper being worn, for some reason, in a home game.

I don't think that's really necessary, unless both versions end up being worn at some point. The AFL just needs to co-ordinate the round better and make sure every club designs something suitable for the matchup they're in. Obviously that's been difficult in the covid seasons.
