Play Nice AFL Womens - General Discussion

Well it is a game that was created by men, developed by men and done so to suit men's physical abilities.

Women can play it, doesn't mean their bodies are best suited to it. The men's game has had rules introduced to lessen injuries of certain types, why would the women's game not be treated the same way?
Very beautiful words. None of it answers my question. I didn't ask if it's a man's game.

Here's a hint: the contention that women are not physically able to play the game is degrading to the women's competition.

Nice talking with you

Sorry since when does a picture matter? Typical that you don’t back up your sook with any actual evidence, we shouldn’t really expect any less from the constantly offended.

Has any one actually confirmed he said “football is a mans game” other than Moana? I know who I’d believe and it’s not the person who walks out of an appearance with kids and claims comments almost gave her a panic attack.
You can't have a xenophobic tossbag as your avatar and then expect people to engage with your opinion.

Well if the scientific data keeps being collected and injuries keep rising then perhaps science/medicine will point towards them not being able to physically play the game the way the rules are structured now without risking serious injury at a higher rate of incidence.

Women's Gaelic football is an example of a national organised competition that has rules which differ from the men and make the game slightly less physical but allow for a skilful faster flowing game. The women don't complain because it makes their version of the game that bit different to the men's and as such has a slightly different selling point (and less injuries).

I fully support woman playing aussie rules but its obvious they will be getting far more injuries if they played the same amount of matches and time so rules will need to be changed

But lets face it why are Z grade footballers getting so much attention...because they are female
A under 16 male teenage team will massacre them in a game of footy

Why is the rate of injuries in the mens game the `right` rate? Why dont people point at the injury rate in mens football and say, we have to ban bumping, and tackling players to the ground to avoid all these injuries? Would you be for that, if someone came out and said, if we make these modifications to football, the serious injury rate drops 75%?

Whats the magic injury rate threshold that womens football seems to have crossed and mens football has not, requiring wholesale changes to the game.

For women who find it to rough or dangerous, why is the option of not playing, or playing 9s off the table? Why must we change the game for the women who want to play the game the traditional way.

Women have been playing the traditional form of the game in an organised fashion since the 80s, and apparently they didnt all die. Why the sudden concern now.

Could it be just more of men thinking they need to make decisions on behalf of women (entirely in their own best interest of course).

Woman have every right to play aussie rules according to current rules

We also have a right to say we don't want a z grade level standard to be foistered on us just because woman are playing it as if the standard is comparable to mens.

Try using the same standard having a major operation...lets elevate z grade surgeons to do bypass heart surgery

Have you not been following football much?

They have constantly been changing the way the game is played and officiated in the men's game to reduce chances of injury.

Do keep up.

And those are the most skilled players in the world. Not a bunch of mixed skill level players who don't have the fitness or skills to offset potential dangerous situations.

Or will the game plateau out and participation levels start to drop when parents start to realise their daughters are getting hurt often.

That has happened on the boys side of AFL as a sport at times.

So you didnt answer the question. The proposal was, bumping and tackling to the ground should be banned in womens football because of injuries. Should these changes also be introduced into mens football because of injuries, and if not, why not?

Yes foistered by promoting z rate talent because of gender....why not promote under 16 boys on tv as they have more skill than z rate woman players

So you are for promotion of z rate talent because of gender .. wait till they give you a z rate surgeon when you need a operation see how you go

Women can still play aussie rules on the weekend like any other lower grade comp

It's already happened ... the shirtfront has gone

Do you know what you're talking about?

The women's game needs to evolve, it needs time, the Men's competition has been around for a long time and is what it is.
Tactics can't be the same, the kicks are shorter with less penetration and the ball needs to be worked around a little more and possibly more of a run and carry evolution. I don't know but let's all agree Men and Women are physically different. The women's game has come a long way over the last few years and let's keep supporting it but allow it to find its own path and direction. Some things will work some things won't but let's not be in too much of a rush, it needs to stand on its own and grow.

I have been to the AFLW and they don't hold back and so they shouldn't but if we are looking for a carbon copy of the Men's game we may be a little disappointed, that's not to say the Women's game can't be just as special but in its own right and through its own evolution.

FWIW - I think it is a bit of a blow up, whilst Mick can be a little grumpy and sometimes controversial at times what Mo Hope said about him doesn't ring true from what I have seen of the guy in the past. Maybe some poor choices of words but doesn't sound like we should string him up for it.

How many players are coming from non AFL backgrounds compared to the men?

Do these newbies know how to tackle correctly? The skill levels from top to bottom in the men's and women's comps aren't even comparable. Jesus they have an Irish handball player trying out to get a spot on a list.

Browns cows the way they are looking for talent all over the place because what's there now isn't of a high level.

Does a lack of opposable thumbs impact your capacity to use of a remote control?

Christ knows what you're even sooking about; you don't like the product, piss off - comparing surgeons to footballers is just scratching the surface of your bone-deep idiocy.
